1) Research Division
Transportation Research Division has been leading since 1978 researches on the nation’s major trans-portation policies and planning, at the national, regional and urban level. It aims at securing balanced territorial development and international competitiveness ; strengthening effectiveness of transporta-tion investment, and enhancing quality of life through improvement of transportatransporta-tion service.
The major research areas are as follows : major transportation policies supporting national and regional development ; mid to long-term transportation investment planning ; transportation corri-dors development planning ; high-speed arterial road and railway network construction planning ; and standardization and architecture of the Intelligent Transport System (ITS), logistics network con-struction such as master plan for logistics complex development. Coupled with this, it is engaged in international programs such as the research on the Asian Highway comprising the Korean Peninsula and its neighboring countries, Trans-Eurasian Railway, multi-transport system ; policy exchanges with China, Japan, US and Indonesia ; and logistics research with Netherlands. In addition, the
‘Infra21’ seminar helps improve the quality of its research.
