Research on land ownership, planning and Land & Housing Research Division carries out studies concerned with the efficient use and manage-ment of limited land sources and the improvemanage-ment of living environmanage-ment. Since the land and housing policies have influence over politics, economy, society, and culture, they have become very important factors to determine the quality of life, distribution of wealth and preservation of environment, etc.

However, going through the mass housing supply and financial crisis in the 1990s, there have been the need for a new policy paradigm for the land and housing development. In addition, the impor-tance of transparent land and housing market, and environment conservation has been recognized with the housing market shifting from supplier-oriented to customer-oriented, and with the rapid change in the global environment : globalization and informatization.

Land & Housing Research Division analyzes and forecasts various changes in the land and housing market, and develops comprehensive policies and methods aiming at reducing the conflicts between development and conservation problems in the real estate market. In order to settle the housing prob-lems with low income households, the division tries to build a sense of community and culture among residents. In addition, in order to manage national land pro-environmentally the division ana-lyzes advanced theories and information, and conducts researches on and methodologies based on Korean models coupled with various training programs.
