1) Research Division
Geospatial Information Research Center, the GIS hub of Korea, tries to actively respond to the chang-ing paradigm of the new information technology. For this, it has set the goal of inventchang-ing a new cre-ative knowledge by discovering issues that will help strengthen national competitiveness, and pre-senting practical research measures.
Geospatial Information Research Center carries out researches related to the establishment, moni-toring and assessment of National Geographic Information Systems(NGIS). In addition, it tries to make GIS more convenient to use, and have people more easily access to it. It also promotes coopera-tive research among major NGIS research groups of Korea. The center plays a key role in formulating strategies for GIS utilization and development methodology. The goal is to implement the central and local e-governments, and establish the network of geographic information. It will lead to the creation of the GIS-based cyber and ubiquitous world.
Geospatial Information Research Center provides the efficient ways to construct and manage the national spatial and geographic information database, and facilitate the GIS application development in the public sector aiming at accelerating the informatization of national territory.
