C. The Global Development Partnership Forum
Utilizing GDP forums as an opportunity for building partnerships with domestic ODA-related organizations and private companies
• The GDPC hosts a regular forum every month and a seminar for strengthening competence for overseas development partnerships.
• The forum members are 86 in total including officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs, KOTRA, the Korea Land and Housing Corporation, construction and engineering companies, etc. Approximately 40 members participate in each forum.
• The GDPC performs the “Global Development Partnership Academy” program to support the staff in charge of overseas development projects of private companies, mainly focusing on forum member institutions (November 6 and 8, 2012). The trainees were 23 in total.
Future Operation Direction
• Expansion of networking from domestic experts-oriented to overseas experts-oriented
• Expansion of the roles of the Global Development Partnership Forum to the top 3 overseas joint projects of public-private organizations and mutual partnership projects, rather than networking List of major international conferences of 2012

The GDPC hosted a policy workshop about the Korean-style Green Smart Cities at the Vietnam Institute of Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning (VIAP) in Hanoi, Vietnam, for two days from May 17 (Thu.) to 18 (Fri.), 2012. On the last day of the workshop, the KRIHS and the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association (VUPDA) entered into an MOU regarding education, training, and the exchange of research information between the two institutes. The content and scope of the partnership is classified largely in three areas. Both parties agreed to conduct joint research and publication activities, to invite experts to give lectures and seminars, and to share learning experiences; to invite researchers to participate in symposiums, conferences, and seminars conducted by the two institutions; and to exchange information on urban planning and development sectors.

The KRIHS visited the Vietnam Academy of Managers for Construction and Cities (AMC) during the policy workshop about the Korean-style Green Smart Cities at the Vietnam Institute of Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning (VIAP) in Hanoi, Vietnam, for two days from May 17 (Thu.) to 18 (Fri.), 2012.
The AMC hoped to build a long-term partnership beginning with the training workshop between the two institutions, and wanted to enter into an MOU in August. Accordingly, the KRIHS and AMC signed an MOU to create a partnership for further educational training programs.
Both parties agreed
① to plan and co-host lectures and seminars, and visit relevant institutions, and industrial sites;
② to plan and implement training programs that are necessary for the AMC, such as housing and real estate development, housing finance, housing policy for low-income class, GIS, and joint housing management;
③ t o perform exchange of researchers between the KRIHS and the AMC for research and investigations;
④ to conduct international projects and joint
research projects sponsored by the World Bank (WB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA);
⑤ to exchange information and publish joint research results; and
⑥ that the KRIHS will make efforts to support the domestic and overseas partners of the KRIHS being more involved with the AMC.
