Proposal of an Experimental Apparatus for Learning about Torque

From primary to tertiary education, the concept of torque is learned as one of key concepts in physics education. The concept of torque can be understood properly on the basis of the concept of the vector product. Also, the concept of torque is utilized commonly as an important means for understanding the abstract concept of the vector product because the concept of torque is physical.

In this study, the problems occurring in learning related to torque were analyzed, and an apparatus for torque experiments was developed for solving those problems. The apparatus provides students with useful ways to learn the concepts of torque the vector product in a visible way. This study also suggests some experiments that can be done with the apparatus.
