시그날 OUT

ANN: 이제 시작 하겠습니다.

1번입니다.

대화를 듣고, 두 사람이 가져올 물건이 아닌 것을 고르세요.

M: Well, Pamela. We're lucky we don't have to buy a whole lot of furniture.

W: You're right. So John, tell me what kind of stuff we're getting from your parents.

M: I think the best thing is probably the brown leather sofa. It's old, but it's in pretty good condition.

W: That's fantastic! This winter I saved some extra money and bought a new CD player and some good speakers.

M: What size are the speakers?

W: They're pretty small, but they sound great.

M: My mom also gave us two chairs. They're very wide and comfortable. They'll be perfect for studying in.

W: Yeah, or for watching TV.

M: I'm also bringing a glass coffee table.

W: Oh, good. Well, I guess all we have to do now is to decide where to put

대화를 듣고, 두 사람의 관계로 알맞은 것을 고르세요.

W: Thanks for calling the Moonlight Musical Theater. This is Susan speaking.

May I help you?

M: Yes, I made a reservation for next Saturday's show. Could I possibly change my reservation?

W: May I ask which show you reserved?

M: Oh, sorry. It's Mamma Mia. I wonder if there are tickets available for Sunday.

W: Let me check. Umm... There are tickets available for the 5:00 pm. and 8:00 pm. shows on Sunday.

M: 8:00 pm. will be fine. And I would like to sit close to the stage because of my poor eyesight.

W: No problem, but the price for front row seats is a little higher than the other seats.

M: That's fine. I understand.

3번입니다.

대화를 듣고, 두 사람이 주말에 함께 할 일을 고르세요.

M: What are you doing on Saturday afternoon?

W: Saturday afternoon? I don't have any plans right now, but I just want to rest.

M: Ah, come on, let's go swimming.

W: No, I've been so busy these days. I want to sleep in until noon.

M: That's boring. Let's do something special. How about a drive along the beach?

W: Well, I've done that before. Besides, didn't you check today's weather forecast? It says it will rain this Saturday.

M: Oh, my god. But there are lots of things to do even if it does rain. We could go to the movies? They say that Rocky Balboa is magnificent.

W: Okay, I can do that. It's a little expensive but it will be worth it. What time shall we meet? How about 3 o'clock?

M: Okay, that's good.

(3)

대화를 듣고, 엄마가 아들에게 권하는 것이 무엇인지 고르세요.

M: Mom, I'm thinking of studying literature at the university.

W: Literature? So what are you going to do after graduation, In-su? You'd better study something useful like business administration or economics.

M: But that's not what I am interested in, Mom. You should know that I hate business adminstration.

W: If you major in a useful field, you'll have a better chance of getting a good job.

M: What do you mean by a good job? Does getting a good job mean making a lot of money?

W: Above all, getting a solid job is important for you and our family. Are you planning to live at home after graduation?

M: No, I don't want to live with you and Dad. Come on, Mom. University is where I can learn more about what I want to study. Literature is more interesting to me than any other field.

W: That's enough. We'd better stop arguing about this nonsense.

5번입니다.

대화를 듣고, 여자가 새 컴퓨터를 사고 싶어 하는 이유로 적절하지 않은 것을 고르세요.

W: Dad, my computer broke down again. I think I need a new one.

M: A new one? You've only had this one for three years.

W: Yeah, I know. But it's out of date already. I need a faster one with more memory.

M: You and your electronic toys...

W: It's not a toy, Dad. I need a computer for my school work. I use a computer every day for research, for writing, for....

M: For meeting guys online...

W: No, I don't do that, don't worry. Anyway, I was thinking.. How about a laptop? For my birthday, maybe?

M: Why a laptop?

W: Because I can take it to class to take notes, and take it to the library. A lot of students have them. Believe me, it would make my life so much easier.

대화를 듣고, 남자가 사게 될 선물을 고르세요.

W: Hello. Can I help you?

M: I'm looking for a gift for my girlfriend. Well... actually, she's not my girlfriend yet, so I really don't know what to get her.

W: How about some chocolates or sweets?

M: Well, I think she's on a diet.

W: Hmm, then how about some jewelry?

M: Like what?

W: Well, how about this bracelet? It's simple but very elegant, don't you think?

M: It's pretty, but I really can't spend that much money.

W: OK. Let's see... What else?... Well, here's a nice bottle of perfume. I'm sure she would like this.

M: Actually she once told me that she doesn't like any kind of perfume. Anyway, I really wanted to give her something unusual.

W: I'm afraid something unusual might be expensive. Look, I have an idea. Why don't you get her a bunch of flowers with a nice card. Most women love to get flowers. Doesn't that sound romantic?

M: Yeah, I guess so. Ok, that's what I'll do! Thanks for your help!

7번입니다. 대화를 듣고, Monique에 대한 설명으로 틀린 것을 고르세요.

M: That's enough about me. How about you, Monique? Are you from Los Angeles?

W: No. Actually, I was born in Seattle, but I guess you could say I grew up all over the world.

M: Huh? What do you mean?

W: Well, my dad was in the Air Force, so we moved around a lot. We moved to Japan when I was two.

M: Wow! Did you go to school there?

W: No. My father was sent to Germany after that. We moved to Munich in 1960, when I was five. I started elementary school there. In 1972 my father retired.

M: Is that when you moved to Los Angles?

W: No.

M: So when did you come to Los Angeles?

W: Right after I finished college in Hawaii. I really feel like L.A. is my home now.

대화를 듣고, 남자가 Midtown 호텔을 선택하게 된 이유로 알맞은 것을 고르세요.

M: Excuse me, Kathryn, do you know of any hotels in Boston? The boss is sending me there, and I have to find a place to stay.

W: I know of three hotels. They are The Midtown, The Boston Bay, and The Fairfield.

M: What are their locations like? I'll be working downtown most of the time.

W: The Midtown has the best location, then. The Boston Bay is also good, but The Fairfield isn't downtown at all.

M: I've read about The Boston Bay. It's the newest hotel in Boston, isn't it?

W: Yeah, it is. It's the biggest and the most expensive hotel in Boston.

M: I have to keep my expenses down. What about The Midtown?

W: The Midtown is cheaper than The Boston Bay.

M: Tell me about The Fairfield.

W: Sure. The room rates are the cheapest, probably because it's not downtown.

M: The Midtown is closer to where I'll be working. Could you reserve a room for me there?

W: Sure. What days will you be there?

9번입니다.

대화를 듣고, 여자의 심정으로 가장 알맞은 것을 고르세요.

M: Did you receive our engagement party invitation card, Sarah?

W: Yes, I did. But I'm afraid I can't make it.

M: I'm so sorry to hear that. What's the problem? Do you have a test?

W: No, I have been busy these days since my parents went on a trip to Europe.

It feels like I'm the only one who's running the house all day long.

M: Doesn't your sister help you?

W: Never. My sister and I agreed we'd share the housework 50-50. But it seems like she's not doing her fair share.

M: How about telling her how you feel?

W: I don't know how many times I have asked her to at least help me with the dishes. Yesterday she broke my favorite cup.

W: What are you looking for in speed, size, price, security, memory capacity?

M: I want a USB drive with a capacity of 2GB or bigger. Can you show me the various models?

W: Sure, how about this one? This model doesn't have a cap over the USB connector, but is capable of resisting a crushing force of over 2,000 kg. Even if you hammer this device, it will still work like new.

M: How much is it? Does it come in blue?

W: Of course. The original price is 80 dollars, but all items are on sale, at 20%

off.

M: How about this micro USB drive?

W: That is a fine one, too. Its capacity is 4GB. It is 100 dollars.

M: I like this model, but 100 dollars is a little too much.

W: Hmm, since you like it so much, I'll give you a 30% discount. That is the best I can offer.

M: OK. It's a deal.

W: Then, you need to fill out this customs form, please.

M: Sure.

W: How would you like to send it?

M: What are the options?

W: You can send it by regular air mail, surface mail, or express two-day service.

M: How long will it take to get to Seoul by regular mail?

W: It takes a week on average by regular air mail, and it's 6 dollars per kg.

M: I'm afraid that will take too long. Today is Tuesday and it must be delivered by Friday, before my son's birthday. How about the express service?

W: The express mail takes just two days. It's 10 dollars per kg.

M: I think express mail will be best.

W: Would you please put the package on the scale? Let me see. It weighs 6 kg.

M: Oh! I'm sorry to hear that. Is your husband getting better?

W: Yes, he is recovering.

M: Is that why you are looking so happy? Or have you suddenly inherited a fortune?

W: Well...

M: Did you win the lottery or something?

W: No. But a friend of mine, who borrowed some money from me, finally paid me back. Now I can quit my night job. Actually I wasn't expecting the money.

M: What do you mean?

M:

(9)

M: Yes, I have to pay a traffic ticket. Why?

W: Can you give me a ride? I have to run some errands.

M: Where do you need to go?

W: Uh, a lot of places. First, I've got to go to the bank. Could you drop me off at Second Avenue?

M: Second Avenue? Oh, sure. I know where that is. But why are you going to the bank? Why don't you use the ATM on campus?

W: Because I need to cash a check my dad sent me. Also, the dry cleaner is next door to the bank, and I have to pick up some clothes there anyway.

M: There's a laundry room right here on the first floor. You can do your laundry there much cheaper.

W: My clothes need special dry cleaning. By the way, do you know if there's a photo shop near there? I have some film to develop.

M: How far did you fall?

W: I'm not sure, but it was far enough to break my arm.

M: When can you ski again?

W: Probably in about two months. You know, I'm really mad at myself. Last year I broke my ankle in another ski-jumping competition.

M: Incredible! Why do you enter these contests, anyway?

W:

M: Jenny, I have to confess something.

W: Oh, what is it?

M: Do you remember the digital camera that I borrowed from you?

W: Yes, what's wrong with my camera? Did you lose it?

M: No, but I broke it.

W: Oh, Michael! I just bought it 2 months ago. How did it happen?

M: The other day our family went hiking. I left it on the bench near a small lake, and my little sister accidently dropped it in the water by mistake while she was using it.

W: Oh! Is your little sister worried?

M: Yes. And your digital camera is broken. I'm so sorry. I'll try to buy you a new one as soon as possible.
