BANGUI
SEPTEMBER 13, 2012
……….
- Her Excellency, Margueritte PETRO-KONI-ZEZE- ZARAMBAUD, Minister of Social Affairs, National Solidarity and Gender Promotion
- Distinguished Guests, - Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am honored to be here today on the occasion of providing food and numerous materials to the Mother and Child Centre. This occasion once more offers us an opportunity to celebrate the active cooperation between our two countries.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Cameroon has made efforts to strengthen the relationship between our two countries, since it reopened in 2008. As part of these efforts, the Korean Government provided 6 ambulances as its contribution to the development of the healthcare system and 73 computers for the improvement of the Parliamentary system of the Central African Republic. The items provided today are another testimony of our ongoing support to your country.
Based on the request from Minister of Social Affairs, National Solidarity and Gender Promotion, the Korean Government has
decided to support the Central African Government in its mission of taking care of orphans and vulnerable children within the country. For this Mother and Child Centre’s sustainable development, the Korean Government will support renovation of the centre to secure operating funds by renting the renovated conference room.
Excellencies, Distinguished guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Korean Government which is a member of the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) is unrelenting in its efforts to support developing countries and achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Korea has transformed itself from one of the poorest countries into the13th largest economy in the world. The Republic of Korea has sought to share its own expertise and know-how of development experience with partner countries.
The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) which is a government grant-aid agency, carried out purchase and delivery of all the items provided. This falls within the scope of KOICA’s missions of implementing Korea’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) to developing countries. Moreover, KOICA has been actively participating in Human Resources Development of
the Central African Republic by inviting governmental officials to one-year scholarship programs and short-term training programs organized by KOICA in Korea. Until now, 28 officials have participated in KOICA training programs to share Korea’s development experience.
I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my deep appreciation to the Central African Government for its active cooperation and support in the international community. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Cameroon will do its best to increase cooperation activities between our two countries over the years to come.
Thank you for your kind attention
