Logo Competition

The 60th Anniversary of the Diplomatic Relations of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Republic of Korea

This year is the celebration of the 60 years of Diplomatic Relations between Brazil and the Republic of Korea. Since its establishment, in 1959, the relationship between the two countries has developed into a close partnership in many different areas. In preparing for the anniversary, the Embassy of Brazil in Seoul and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Brasilia are hosting a Logo design contest for Brazilian and Korean nationals to create a Logo that best reflects their rich history, as well as the two countries’ modern, innovative and forward-looking partnership. The winning Logo design will be used for events and promotion materials related to the 60th anniversary in both countries throughout 2019 and 2020.

Objective

1. This Logo competition is aimed at promoting the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brazil and the Republic of Korea.

2. The Logo shall be used in activities during the years of 2019 and 2020 as well as in events and official documents related to the anniversary, in both countries.

Timeline

1. Application period: January 30th – February 18th 2019 2. Announcement of the final result: by February 25th 2019

Theme

“60 Years of Brazil – Republic of Korea Friendship”

Rules

1. The candidate shall hold the nationality of Brazil or that of the Republic of Korea.

2. One candidate may submit UP TO TWO Logo designs.

3. A Logo design shall reflect symbolic features, characteristics or cultural aspects of both countries.

4. The Logo designs shall be delivered in digital format (“.png” or ”.jpeg”), not larger than 3MB, in addition to an “.eps” format not larger than 5MB. The explanatory text shall be submitted as a “.doc”

or “.pdf” file.

5. A Logo design could contain some expressions in English such as “60th Anniversary”, “Brazil”, Republic of Korea”, and “Diplomatic Relations”. The position and the order of the words are flexible.

6. Upon submission, the candidate shall attach a brief explanation of the Logo and its concept in TWO languages of their choice among Portuguese, Korean, and English (maximum 500 words for each language).

7. The Logo designs and the text shall both be submitted by February 18th 2019 to ALL OF THE following email addresses: 60brakor@gmail.com, csf.seul@itamaraty.gov.br and culturacoreanabr@mofa.go.kr.

8. The result of the competition, with the name of the winners, will be announced on the website of the Embassy of Brazil in Seoul and on that of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Brasilia.

9. The organizing Committee reserves the right to disqualify any application that fails to comply with the rules of this contest.

Applications

All applications shall contain the items below:

1 - Application Form in “.doc” OR “.pdf” file.

2 - ONE “.png” OR “.jpeg” file of maximum 3MB containing the Logo design.

3 - ONE “.eps” file of maximum 5MB containing the Logo design.

4 - ONE “.doc” or “.pdf” file containing a brief explanation of the Logo and its concept in TWO languages of their choice among Portuguese, Korean, and English (maximum 500 words for each language).

5 - A copy of an official document issued by either the government of Brazil or the government of the Republic of Korea certifying that the contestant holds the Brazilian or Korean nationality respectively.

Terms and Conditions

1. The Logo shall be an original design, shall not infringe upon third party’s copyright and shall have never been published previously in any country. The contestant shall solely hold responsible for any legal issues arising from the violation of copyright and other intellectual property rights related to the submitted design.

2. Once the winner is awarded, he/she shall agree to assign the copyright of the Logo to both Brazil’s and Korea’s Ministries of Foreign Affairs and respective diplomatic missions and their representatives.

3. After the selection, the winner shall cooperate with the organizing Committee to work on a final version of the Logo.

4. All dates mentioned in this document may be altered according to the needs of the organizing Committee.

Organizing and Judging Committee

Officials and staff from the Embassy of Brazil in Seoul and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Brasilia will form a jury to choose the finalists and name the winners. The jury may consult with a professional design organization at their discretion.

Appraisal Criteria

- Aesthetic Quality: the entry shall command attention, display visual balance and color coordination.

- Originality: the entry shall be creative, innovative and an original work of the participant.

- Relevance: the entry shall be relevant to both countries involved.

Awards jointly offered by both Embassies

1. Awards: A total amount of KRW 1,800,000 (one million eight hundred thousand Korean won) will be awarded to three contestants, as follows:

- 1st Prize: KRW 1,000,000 (one million Korean won) or equivalent amount in Brazilian real or a prize worth this amount.

- 2nd Prize: KRW 500,000 (five hundred thousand Korean won) or equivalent amount in Brazilian real or a prize worth this amount.

- 3rd Prize: KRW 300,000 (three hundred thousand Korean won) or equivalent amount in Brazilian real or a prize worth this amount.

Sole Paragraph: The prizes shall be awarded to the winners or their legal representatives exclusively in Brazil or in Korea.

2. Award Ceremony: in principle, the prizes of the winners who reside in the Republic of Korea shall be awarded at the Embassy of Brazil in Seoul and the prizes of those residing in Brazil shall be awarded at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Brasilia.
