PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS
MAJOR WORKS CONTRACT FOREST ROAD CONSTRUCTION

Attachment to the Agreement with Insert fully legal name as it appears on the Contract for road construction, road upgrade and bridge installation.
1. LOCATION OF WORKS
The Works are located as follows:
Maxan Colleymount and Maxan West FSR’s
2. SCOPE OF WORKS
FSR 9772-10 – Upgrade of 8.81km of existing FSR. This includes moderate to heavy brushing of the right-of-way, grading, ditch re-establishment, culvert installs and replacements, cleaning out of culvert inlets and outlets, road and bridge signage installations and the installation of a 12.1m bridge. Moderate to heavy brushing of the right of way to be completed in accordance with Schedule L.
FSR 9772-11 – The new construction of 6.24km of new FSR. This will include right-of-way falling, site prep, roadway and drainage excavation, culvert installation, grass seeding and road signage installation as needed. FLTC A94198 authorizing the cutting and removal of the right of way timber will be issued in conjunction with this contract.
FSR 9772-11 – The upgrade of 1.6km of an existing bladed road. This will include clearing the existing 15m wide right of way, site prep, roadway and drainage excavation including the construction of 3 new pullouts (30 metres by 5 metres), culvert installations, grass seeding and road signage installations as needed.
3. MATERIALS SUPPLIED BY THE PROVINCE
The Province shall supply at no cost to the Contractor the following materials to be utilized in the road contract, in a timely manner so as not to impede the progress of the Contractor in carrying out the contract. The contractor must protect the materials from damage or loss at all times while the materials are on site and, once the materials are on site, is solely responsible for any loss or damage to the Province’s materials, and any costs required to repair or replace the materials to the satisfaction of the Province:

6. ROADWAY AND DRAINAGE EXCAVATION Embankments

The entire roadway, shoulders, ditches and cut and fill slopes must be neatly trimmed to produce smooth surfaces, slopes and uniform cross-sections to the lines, grades and cross- sections that are within 100 millimetres of those shown on the Drawings.
In addition to the requirements for embankment compaction in Schedule D, the contractor must:

The road subgrade must be compacted such that the road will support a loaded gravel truck without leaving wheel ruts deeper than 5cm.This is typically achieved with the complete three passes with minimum 8 tonne smooth drum vibratory packer. One pass considered width of the sub-grade.

Turnouts and Widenings
A. Turnouts are required for single lane roads and must be constructed such that the width of the turnout portion is 4 metres, in addition to the tangent road subgrade width.

8. ROAD SURFACING Surfacing Materials

When finishing the road surface in accordance with Schedule D, the contractor must:
Grade and shape the finished road. Roads will require a minimum of seven (7) passes, with additional passes at pullouts, widened curves and switchback curves. On completion, graded road surfaces will be smooth and free draining with no loose material that cannot be readily compacted with traffic
