본 연구에서 제안한 누적위해성평가 가이드라인은 2019년 시행하는 화학제품안전법의 관리를 위한 과학적 근거 마련에 기여할 수 있다. 특히 아직 제대로 논의되지 않고 있는 어린이 등 민감집단의 생활화학제품 노출 저감을 위한 정책 마련에 유용하게 쓰일 수 있다.

하지만 누적위해성평가의 활성화를 위해서는 국내의 상황에 맞는 사례 개발 및 데이터베이 스 통합이 시급하다. 제6장에서 제안한 향후 과제를 중심으로 국내에서 누적위해성평가 정착을 위한 시도를 지속적으로 진행하여야 한다. 또한 이를 뒷받침할 수 있도록 누적위해 성평가의 제도화가 필요하다. 이와 동시에 누적위해성평가의 확대 방안 또한 고려하여야 한다. 우선 누적위해성평가 도입으로 영향을 받을 수 있는 산업계 등 이해관계자, 그리고 소비자들의 의견을 충분히 수렴하여 누적위해성평가 적용 범위에 대한 컨센서스 확립이 필요하다. 또한 누적위해성평가가 우선적으로 적용되어야 할 분야에 대한 우선순위 선정 또한 이루어져야 한다. 이러한 과정을 통한 누적위해성평가의 정착화 및 활성화는 생활환경 에서의 국민의 안전 강화에 크게 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

Recent scares involving health damage from exposure to chemicals in living environments, exemplified by the humidifier disinfectant accident, has increased people’s mistrust of biocidal products and household chemical products. Accordingly, the demand for tighter regulation, as well as better management of such products also increased. The purpose of this study was to develop a methodology that utilizes cumulative risk assessment to comprehensively evaluate the risk of chemicals contained in household products, thereby enhancing the safety management of them.

First, we recognized that “cumulative exposure and risk assessment” is used interchangeably with “mixture exposure and risk assessment” and

“aggregate exposure and risk assessment“ in Korea. Therefore, we came up with the terms “cumulative exposure of a single substance” and “cumulative exposure of multiple substances” to represent “aggregate exposure” and

“cumulative exposure,” respectively. Similarly, we defined “cumulative risk assessment of a single substance” and “cumulative risk assessment of multiple substances” to represent “aggregate risk assessment” and

“cumulative risk assessment,” respectively. Next, we reviewed the status of research related to cumulative risk assessment in Korea. Although studies on cumulative risk assessments have been active, most studies were limited to

studies on single substance cumulative risk assessments. In addition, the results of the research did not lead to any implementation of law or policy.
