According to a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, 82% of the 1,249 respondents said that their quality of life had gotten worse in the past 12 months. Moreover, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque attributed the result to the crisis triggered by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Chinese Embassies in UK, Belgium, and the Philippines have put out similar notices stating that China has temporarily suspended entry of non-Chinese nationals.
The Chinese embassy in Manila said that it was a measure to tackle the pandemic.
4. ‘Quinta,’ ‘Rolly’ damage to agri, infra rises to P11.4B The Manila Times, 6 November 2020, p. 7
The Department of Agriculture (DA) reported that the damage of Typhoon ‘Quinta’
and ‘Rolly’ has reached P11.409 billion. Moreover, the agency stated that the uptrend was largely because of an increase in productions losses of 271,240 metric tons of damaged crops.
5. EU to provide P63M in aid for Rolly victims The Philippine Star, 6 November 2020, p. 2
The European Union (EU) announced a P63-million aid for the affected families of Typhoon Rolly in the country. The aid will also help the Filipino people to restore their homes and livelihood aside from covering their immediate needs.

6. DSWD gets P10-M worth of rice from Korean gov’t Manila Bulletin, 5 November 2020
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) received P10-million worth of rice from the Korean government. It is the second donation of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) which is intended for the families in Metro Manila and other areas who have been affected by the community quarantine.

7. October inflation hits 3-month high The Manila Times, 6 November 2020, p. B1
The Philippine Statistics Authority reported that the country’s inflation picks up to 2.5%
in October driven by the higher prices of consumer goods such as pork and fish.
Although it was higher than the 2.3% in September, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas said that it still falls within their inflation target of 2% to 4% this year.
8. EU-support for PH manufacturing sought The Manila Times, 6 November 2020, p. B2
The European Union (EU) committed an additional 150-million-euro worth of grants to the Philippines. Two thirds of the grant is said to help finance program to boost the agricultural productivity in Mindanao, while the other portions of the grant may be re-oriented to Manila’s COVID-19 response efforts.
