M: Clara, we’re running out of gas. The fuel warning light is on.

W: What? Do you know any gas stations nearby?

M: I have no idea. Can you find one with your smartphone?

W: __________________________________________________________

[ Phone rings.]

W: Blue Cave Hotel. How can I help you?

M: Hello, my name is Shawn Carter. I checked out of Room 416 this morning, and I think I left my watch there.

W: Oh, the room hasn’t been cleaned yet. I’ll send someone to check.

M: __________________________________________________________

M: Amy, I heard you don’t work in the flower shop anymore.

W: That’s right. Now I work as a kindergarten teacher. I’ve dreamed of it since childhood.

M: Congratulations! But I think it could be hard to deal with young children.

W: __________________________________________________________

M: Hello, students. Today we’re talking about dental health of humans in ancient times. Do you know why ancient people also suffered from cavities? One reason is related to their diet. Cavemen consumed root vegetables and nuts, which were transformed into sugars during digestion.

As a result, while humans in ancient times didn’t have any chocolate or candy, their teeth were still exposed to sugars. The second reason, obviously, is they didn’t have toothbrushes and toothpaste. Since cavemen could not brush their teeth clean, it was unavoidable for them to have severe cavities. Isn’t it interesting? Now we’re going to figure out how they treated their cavities.

W: Good morning. Welcome to Children’s Grand Park. We’re proud of our cheerful and safe environment for children. Children’s safety and well-being is always our primary concern. Nowadays, there are more reports of children going missing at youth facilities. That can happen in an instant while the parents are distracted for just a moment. Therefore, we request careful attention from parents and caretakers. Young children should never be left unattended in any areas, especially the playing sections and the parking lot. We promise to continue to do our best to protect children from any unfortunate incidents. Thank you for your cooperation.

W: Brad, I heard you’ve been admitted to university. Congratulations!

M: Thanks, Joanne. And you have just one year left, right?

W: Yeah, but I’m already stressed out from the pressure to study and my parents’ expectations.

M: I totally understand how you feel now. It’s important to manage your stress well.

W: Hmm... how did you deal with it?

M: Well, I used to relieve my stress by dancing to loud music.

W: Did it work? I think I’ll have to try that, too.

M: Well, the best way to relieve stress varies from person to person.

Exercise might be good for someone, while others like listening to music.

W: I see your point. I guess playing badminton would be right for me.

M: There you go! I hope that helps you out.

W: He’s probably playing computer games in his room.

M: Again? He plays games alone too much. I’m worried he doesn’t have friends to hang out with.

W: I’m worried about that, too. Why don’t we suggest some new activities to him?

M: Good idea. What about sports like swimming?

W: Well, I think team sports would be better for him.

M: Why? He used to like to swim when he was younger.

W: Yeah, but he needs to spend more time with friends. It’ll help him develop social skills.

M: I see your point.

W: I believe he’ll learn how to get along better when he’s on a team.

M: Why don’t we go ask his thoughts?

W: Thank you. Actually, visitors have left more than 5,000 comments.

M: Really? That’s a good start. Actually, our company is seriously considering publishing your comics. Are you interested?

W: Well, I appreciate your offer, but I’ve already made a contract with another company.

M: I think we can offer you a better royalty payment. Is there room for reconsideration?

W: I’m sorry. I don’t want to break the faith with the company I gave my word to.

W: If you want, I can send the file for you using my email account.

M: Hmm.... Mr. Nolan said we should use our own email account for his feedback.

W: I know, but it’s better to send the report using my account than not doing anything.

M: That makes sense. Then please do it for me.

W: All right. Do you want me to write the reason why I’m sending your report from my account?

M: No, I’ll call Mr. Nolan and explain the situation myself. Thanks, Casey.

W: No problem.

W: That’s terrible. What am I supposed to do then?

M: Don’t worry. There are some alternative classes listed in the notice. We’ll be able to sign up for one of those.

W: Sure. How about this candle with lavender fragrance?

M: I think she will like this. How much is it?

W: The original price is $ 30. But I’ll give you a 10 percent discount on lavender today.

M: Okay. I’ll buy it as well.

W: Good choice! Thank you.

M: Oh, I see. Did you choose your menu?

W: Yeah. I’ll make a meat pie. It’s my grandmother’s recipe.

M: That’s a good idea. When is the deadline to enter?

M: Hi, I’m Justin Timber, president of the student council. I guess you all know that this November 24th is Together Day. It’s a great day for our school to celebrate our rich cultural diversity. As you know, our school is very famous for having students from various cultural backgrounds.

Recognizing this, our student council founded Together Day in 2013. The central message for the day is ‘Diversity is good,’ emphasizing diverse cultures. For the day, booths will be opened for numerous activities like playing games, selling and buying things, and introducing your cultures.

Starting this year, you have the option of wearing your own traditional clothes for the day. If you don’t want to, that is also fine. We look forward to seeing you there.

M: Honey, I’m so happy we can go to Baden Rock Festival together.

W: Check it out. Which band would you like to see?

M: Let me see. I’d like to watch the soft rock band ‘Breeze’.

W: Sounds great! Actually, the hard rock band ‘Thunder’ is too noisy.

M: That’s right. We should also consider our schedules.

W: I’ll be on a business trip from May 16th to the 19th. How about you?

M: Oh, I don’t have any special plans in May. But I don’t want to come home too late because I can’t miss my evening swimming class.

W: Okay. How about the section? Unfortunately, we have only two options, standing or royal seats.

M: Hmm... I don’t think we can stand for two and a half hours. What do you think?

W: I’m totally with you. Royal seats are more expensive but worth paying for.

W: How did you know that?

M: Eddy came here yesterday. He already told me about some problems with your team assignment.

W: Ah... he did. In fact, he rarely talks in the meetings and doesn’t participate much.

M: Well, you do know he hasn’t lived in our country long, right? He doesn’t have many friends who can help him adapt to a new environment.

W: Oh, we didn’t think about that. How do you suggest we get closer to Eddy?

M: I think Eddy has good skills at making presentation slides. To get him involved in your team assignment, you can ask him to design your presentation slides.

M: Hello, listeners. My name is Dr. Green from Perkins University. Today I’ll talk about water and your body. How much water do you think the human body needs per day? One liter? Two liters? For healthy living in a temperate climate, 1.5 liters a day is recommended. The human body is composed of about 60 percent water, and needs enough water to function properly. Here are many ways drinking enough water is beneficial to your body. First, water is essential for cells because it composes a part of each cell. Second, water helps with the regulation of body temperature. Water enables the body to adapt to surrounding temperatures through sweat and urination. Third, water helps facilitate digestion by assisting the passage of food through the intestines. Finally, water helps with the transportation of nutrients to various parts of your body. In conclusion, water plays a key role in maintaining good physical health. Please make sure that you drink enough water every day and stay healthy.
