• 영문숫자(Alphanumeric): 숫자와 심볼뿐만 아니라 알파벳을 포함하는 문자
• 아날로그(Analog): 전압, 온도, 압력, 속도와 같이 연속적으로 변하는 물리 적 양을 다루는 시스템. 자연에 존재하는 대부분의 양은 아날로그로 발생 하며, 무수히 많은 서로 다른 값을 만든다.
• 디지털(Digital): 서로 다른 두 가지의 양을 다루는 시스템. 디지털 전자공학 은 1과 0 또는 ON과 OFF를 다룬다. ASCII와 같은 디지털 코드는 출력 표시 장치를 위한 의미 있는 숫자, 문자, 심볼들로 1과 0을 변환하기 위해 사용된 다.
• 2진수(Binary): 기수가 2인 수 체계. 2진수는 1과0으로 구성되며, 각 자리는 2의 지수(2³,2²,2¹,2°등) 과 같다.
• 비트(Bit): 단일 2진자리. 2진수 1101은 4비트 수이다.
• 8진수(OCTAL): 기수가 8인 수 체계. 8진수 한 자리에는 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7이 올수 있다. 각 8진수 자리는 8의 지수(8³,8²,8¹,8°등)을 표현한다.
• 10진수(Decimal):기수가 10인수 체계 10진수 한 자리에 등장할 수 있는 수 는 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9이다 10진수의 각 자리는 10의 지수(10³,10²,10¹,10°

• 16진수(Hexadecimal): 기수가 16인 수 체계 16진수 한 자리에는 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 ,9, A, B, C, D, E, F,가 올 수 있다. 16진수의 각 자리는 16의 지수(16³,16²,16¹,16°등) 를 표현한다.
• ASCII코드(ASCII Code): 정보 교환을 위한 미 표준 코드(American
Standard Code for information Interchange). ASCII는 디지털 시스템이 외 부와 입출력하는 모든 문자, 심볼, 숫자들을 표현하기 위해 사용하는 7비트 코드이다.
