Chinese Ambassador negotiates with State officials approving ‘Sinopharm’ and
‘Sinovac’
Chinese Ambassador in Kuwait Li Minggang confirmed his readiness to contact Kuwait’s State officials to approve Chinese vaccination. He noted that both vaccines
‘Sinopharm’ and ‘Sinovac’ have been approved and listed on emergency cases vaccine list by WHO, “clinical trials’ data of Sinovac demonstrated remarkable effectivity, whereas the percentage of preventing infection is 90%,” citing Chief scientist of the WHO.
During a press conference, Gang drew attention that more than 100 countries approved Chinese vaccine, besides 30 countries’ presidents got vaccinated with it.
Furthermore, he predicts travel stalling for those who received Chinese vaccines including Chinese citizens and other nationalities who plan to enter Kuwait on the 1st of August.
Regarding Chinese-Kuwaiti relations, Gang assured that the relations are strong and can’t decouple, along with mutual interest in increasing development in all fields and supporting Kuwait’s vision and mission 2035 through building strategic partnership of full industrial chain in energy, technology, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

UAE parliamentary delegation in an official visit to Kuwait
First Deputy speaker of Federal National Council in UAE Hamad Al-Marhoumi and his accompanying delegation had stared an official visit to Kuwait for 3 days.

Kuwait crude oil up to USD 74.25 pb- KPC
Kuwait crude oil gained USD 1.23 during Tuesday’s trading sessions to reach USD 74.25 pb compared with USD 73.02 pb the day before, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) said Wednesday.
Brent futures retreated two cents to USD 74.48 pb and West Texas Intermediate dropped 26 cents to USD 71.65 pb.

SREP final tender submission date 7th September
Meed agency had revealed that Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects between public and private sectors had allocated 7th Sept as a final submission date for consulting firms proposing tenders to move to the next step of Shagaya renewable energy project.
Authority for Partnership granted consulting firms extended time to prepare for tenders. It is expected to issue applications and expressions of interest in participating in the main contract in 6 to 12 months after choosing engineering consultant.

Kuwait reports 933 new COVID-19 infections, five deaths
Kuwait’s Ministry of Health said on Tuesday five people succumbed to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 933 others have been infected with the disease over the past 24 hours. The new figures raised death toll to 2,298 and total infections to 394,538 people, the Ministry’s spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad to KUNA.
As many as 1,378 people cured from the pandemic in the same period, taking the total to 378,810, he added noting that the ratio of infection to recovery hit 96 percent up to 301 patients are being treated at ICUs while about 14,500 others at hospitals’ wards, he said.
The overall medical swabs rose by 12,442 to 3,352,915, he stated the percentage of infected cases in Ahmadi hit 35%, in Hawally 25, Farwaniya 18, Jahra 12 and the capital 10, he pointed out.
Al-Sanad renewed his call for both citizens and residents to abide by health precautions and physical distancing, as well as avoid gatherings.

July, records highest death tolls
Despite the positive advancement regarding COVID-19 situation in Kuwait, death tolls of July are the highest since the beginning of the pandemic, which calls for extra caution and commitment to safety measurements and not to underestimate precautions.
The last 26 days witnessed 314 death cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in Feb 2020.
An official at MoH stated, “high death rates due to COVID-19 stress the importance of abiding by safety measurements and taking the vaccination without any delay.

DGCA exempts immunized travelers from PCR fees
Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced on Tuesday exempting immunized travelers coming from abroad, arriving in Kuwait from paying the PCR test fees at the value of KD 20 via ‘Kuwait Mosafer’ application.
They should only conduct the PCR tests and pay in Kuwait in case the traveler wished to end his/ her home quarantine, starting from next Sunday August 1st, it added in a press statement.
This decision imposes home quarantine on all immunized citizens and expatriates for one week from the date of their arrival in the country, and in case they desire to end the quarantine they should make a PCR test and pay inside the country, and once the test is out and is negative from Coronavirus, the quarantine will end accordingly, it added.
