The GDPC website became available in April 2011. As the main visitors of the Center are foreigners from developing countries, it was designed considering the internet environment of those countries. The website content is basically posted in English and provides ver-sions in Korean, Spanish, and French in order to serve non-English users as well. Users of the website may search not only detailed infor-mation on the research and training courses but may also various materials that are useful for developing countries. Furthermore, the website provides information on the activities of the GDPC and publications of the Center.

Specifically, a virtual 'Community' was established on the GDPC website in October 2010. As a core partner of the Urbanization Knowledge Platform (UKP) of the World Bank (WB), the GDPC made great efforts to estab-lish a sustainable personnel network. Inform-ation obtained through the network is provided in real time through the 'Community or via E- mail. The information that has been accumul-ated is actively utilized for the analysis of inter-national trends in development cooperation, designing invitational training programs of the

GDPC, and the planning of international semi-nars.

The ‘Community’ is a space for information exchange, targeting actual users, rather than a space of information for providers. Each user may be a ‘prosumer’ (i.e., a professional and consumer at the same time). Therefore, it would be more of a practical information space and a more intimate space for exchange. The GDPC opened four 'Communities' in 2011, focusing on the training provided by the GDPC along with a 'Community' for the Global Dev-elopment Partnership Forum and another for the Eastern Regional Organization for Planning and Human Settlements (EAROPH).

• Establishment of a Personnel Database (DB)

The GDPC built a personnel DB for personnel network management after opening its web-site.

A DB was established regarding the train-ees who have completed the training courses since the time prior to the establishment of the GDPC, as the International Cooperation Team at KRIHS, to the present. In addition to the DB

The Planning & Policy Report is an advanced version of policy reports written by the trainees who have completed the GDPC’s educational train-ing course, which is pub-lished three times a year on average. This report is utilized for understanding the policies and

dev-elopment of relevant countries. Also, by distri-buting this report to relevant departments, institutions, and companies, the GDPC shares recent issues and information on developing countries.

• Urbanization and Urban Policies of Korea

This is a research report on the urbanization process and urban policy of Korea, with the partici-pation of four research-ers including Dr. Park Jae-gil, Senior Research Fel-low of the Green National Land and Urban Resear-ch Division of KRIHS.

This research is a joint project conducted with the World Bank (WB).

Developing countries have a great inter-est in the urbanization process and the urban policy of Korea, and it will be a very useful report for those countries that have just com-menced their urbanization processes. Also, through the urbanization process of Korea, the report pre-dicts Korea’s future economic development and urban growth, and contributes to present-ing ideal directions for urbanization-related policies for developing countries.
