MIKTA Ambassadors’ Meeting in Riyadh

As MIKTA Chair for 2020, H.E. Mr. Jo, Byung Wook, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, hosted in his residency a meeting for MIKTA Ambassadors in Riyadh, attended by H.E.
Mr. Aníbal Gómez Toledo, Ambassador of Mexico; H.E. Mr. Erdoğan Kök, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey; H.E. Mr. Ridwaan Jawdat, Ambassador of Australia; Mr. Arief Hidayat, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Republic of Indonesia. MIKTA is a consultative group comprising five countries: Mexico, Indonesia, Korea, Turkey and Australia.
Ambassadors of MIKTA complimented the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in its successful presidency of the G20 and in supporting global health amid the COVID-19 pandemic. They welcomed the decision of the G20 Saudi Presidency to hold the Leaders’
Summit in a virtual format this month, following the Extraordinary G20 Virtual Leaders’
Summit last March 26. The Ambassadors of MIKTA reiterated that the Kingdom had demonstrated strong leadership, taking proactive and preventive measures to combat COVID- 19 as well as global economic downturn.
The MIKTA Ambassadors, emphasizing the imperative need to strengthen multilateralism for the sake of cooperation and solidarity in the international community in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, concurred that the role of cross-regional and innovative partnerships −such as MIKTA− is more important than ever.
The MIKTA Ambassadors to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia agreed to hold further meetings at various levels to enhance the standing of MIKTA in the Kingdom.
