Angular Momentum Redistribution of an Attosecond Electron Wave Packet Induced by Time-delayed Ultrashort Laser Pulses

In a pump-probe experiment with an atom exposed to an attosecond pulse train and a time- delayed ultrafast laser pulse, the angular mometum distribution of the electron wave packet gener- ated by the attosecond pulse train can be altered by the laser pulse. The Volkov approximation, from which we can obtain an analytical expression of the angular momentum redistribution, is ex- amined for its validity. Comparing the results obtained by applying the Volkov approximation with those obtained by using a numerical integration of the time-dependent Schroedinger equation, we confirm the validity and the accuracy of the approximation.
