What Jesus says about marriage?
• They are no longer two, but one flesh.
Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate” (Matthew 19:6)
• Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. (Matthew 19:8)
• I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery. (Matthew 19:9)

1. Marriage is permanent
2. Divorce is only permitted because of sins of human.
3. Except for sexual immorality, re-marriage is adultery.
4. Jesus only allowed Porneia(physical sexual adultery) as the
only reason for allowing re-marriage and divorce.
5. Divorce is permitted, not forced or recommended.

What Paul says about it?
1. If one becomes holy, his/her spouse becomes holy, too. Do not leave, unless unbelieving
one wants to leave, desperately.
2. Not recommending re-marriage. Rather go back to your spouse or remain single.

• Summary
– God created marriage to be permanent. A man and a woman becomes mature and satisfied.
– Divorce is never recommended, but only
permitted, because of sins of human. Despite its justification, it is still sad and sinful.
– Divorce can be justified by two basis
1. if innocent has a spouse committed serious adultery.
2. If non-believing spouse really desperately badly don’t want to continue marriage.

Encourage and give them advices.

Do not condemn, but encourage and help those who are suffering from consequences of divorce.

1. Do you think there will be marriage after consummation? God created men, women and marriage, so marriage is not wrong, but what do you think it means by that we “will neither marry nor be given in marriage”?
