In this edition, seven outstanding experts described updates on various diseases which are their major interests.
First of all, Dr. Park, who majors in gastrointestinal internal medicine, discussed the first-line regimens of Helicpbacter pylori eradication in Korea [1]. His article is thought to be very helpful for many other doctors because he is dealing with various regimens for the eradication of Helicpbacter pylori.
Second, Dr. Shin talked about central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) in his review and he especially showed new imaging findings and treatments of CSC [2]. This article will definitely help many ophthalmologists. Third, Dr. Koh wrote the role of the PI3K/Akt pathway and its therapeutic possibility in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). In this article, he described the importance of the signaling pathway in AD. His review will improve readers’ understanding on the relationship between the PI3K/Akt pathway and AD [3]. Fourth, Dr. Jung who is an expert on otology wrote cutting edge technologies on the otology field and reviewed their usefulness for patients with ear problems [4]. Fifth, Dr. Yu concisely talked about gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and how to deal with GDM [5]. He emphasized the importance of GDM to reduce the complications of GDM mother and the offspring. Sixth, in another article, Dr. Yu extensively reviewed symptoms, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of various acquired polyneuropathies [6]. Her article will give a hand to neurologists in understanding several kinds of acquired polyneuropathies in terms of differential diagnosis and treatments. Last but not least, Dr. Lee discussed the recent trend of chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/
CPPS) management, especially focused on the new concept of treatment “UPOINT”. Although the concept of UPOINT needs to be confirmed through randomized controlled trials, it looks very helpful for the patients with CP/CPPS at the current stage [7]. As described in this editorial, seven experts faithfully described several important topics and all these are considered to be helpful for the readers with various interests.
