이 연구를 수행하면서 가장 아쉬움이 남은 부분은 시간적인 제약으로 인하여 도시 건설에 있어서의 비물리적인 측면의 항목들에 대한 검토를 하지 못하였다는 점이다.
사회․경제적, 문화적 요소들의 핵심은 역시 그 지역에 살고 있는 주민들의 사회․경 제, 문화, 인구학적 속성 자료들을 범죄데이터들과 연계 분석하는 것에서 출발하여야 할 것이다. 현재는 물리적 환경 혹은 지역에 한정된 그룹화된 데이터들의 연구에서 벗 어나 개별 주민들을 직접적으로 살펴보는 연구들이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 따라서 차 후 연구에서는 도시의 물리적 환경뿐만 아니라 도시를 구성하는 주민들에 대한 연구 를 같이 수행하여 범죄예방을 보다 실질적으로 도모하는 연구가 필요하다.
또한, 이 연구에서는 현행 법제도 체제의 문제점을 지적하고 개선 방안에 대한 논 의를 하였지만 법제도 조항의 개선안을 구체적으로 다루지는 않았다. 다만 큰 방향에 서 법제도적인 측면이 나아가야 할 방향을 다양하게 검토하여 제시하였다. 따라서 차 후 연구에 있어서는 구체적으로 법제도 조항을 개선할 수 있는 연구가 수행된다면 실 제 현실세계에 적용할 수 있는 실용적인 연구가 될 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.
