몇 년 전까지만 해도 탈모는 남의 일이라고 생각했 다. 숱이 많은 편이어서 나는 탈모 걱정은 안 할 줄 알았다. 그러나 하는 일이 계획대로 잘 풀리지 않아 서 스트레스를 받았던 시절이 있었는데, 머리 뒤쪽 에 부분 탈모가 생겼다. 병원에서 약도 처방 받고 치료도 받았지만, 머리가 다시 나는 데 시간이 오래 걸려서 늘 신경이 많이 쓰였다. 그 이후부터 머리가 더욱 많이 빠지기 시작했다. 친구의 권유로 탈모 치 료 클리닉에도 가 봤다. 모발 이식 등의 방법이 있 었지만, 비용이 만만치 않아 선뜻 시술을 결정할 수 없었다. 요즘에는 탈모 방지용 샴푸와 두피 관리용 품 등을 사용하고 있다.

모발이 굵다, 숱이 많다 / (모발이) 가늘어지다, (숱이) 줄다영어에서는 모발이 굵은 것과 머리숱이 많은 것을 모 두 thick이라는 형용사로 묘사한다. 반대로 머리카락 이 가늘거나 숱이 적은 것은 thin이라는 형용사로 표 현한다.
I had a thick head of hair when I was younger. (나는 젊었을 때는 모발이 굵고 머리숱이 많았다.)
I changed my shampoo because my hair was growing thinner. (나는 모발이 가늘어지고 숱이 적어지길래 샴푸를 바꿔 봤다.)
