Deep Ultraviolet (DUV) fluorescence is very useful in imaging biological tissues and cells. It uses their intrinsic auto-fluorescence without fluorescence dying or tagging and without the need to determine the band-edge photoluminescences of wide bandgap nanomaterials. We successfully constructed a DUV fluorescence microscope operating in the 280 nm wavelength range by replacing and arranging the UV-transmitting optics and the UV LED. The results of the performance test of the constructed DUV fluorescence microscope showed that it can be conveniently used to obtain the epi-fluorescence image of electrospun fibrinogen nanofibers and thermally grown ZnO nanowires.
