ANN: 그럼 이제 시작 하겠습니다.

1번입니다.

대화를 듣고, 남자가 구입할 자물쇠를 고르세요.

W: Hi, may I help you?

M: Yes, I'm looking for a lock.

W: Okay, how will it be used?

M: I'm going to use it for my school locker.

W: I see. How about this heart-shaped one?

M: That one looks cute, but it seems more suited for girls.

W: What about this one with a long hook?

M: That one might be too big for my locker.

W: Then how about this one? It has eight numbers. You can lock it by mixing the numbers. You don't need a key.

M: That's very convenient, but I'm afraid it might not be secure enough. Could you recommend another one?

W: How about this round one? It uses a dial with numbers. It doesn't need a key either.

M: That one looks perfect.

대화를 듣고, 두 사람의 관계로 가장 적절한 것을 고르세요.

[The telephone rings]

M: Hello, is Ms. Taylor there?

W: Speaking. Who's calling, please?

M: This is "Fast & Quick" company. I'd like to set up a time to drop off your order from "Beauty Clothes Shop."

W: Okay. When can you be here?

M: I think I can be there at noon today.

W: I’m afraid I won't be home at that time.

M: Will anyone be there at one o'clock?

W: I don’t think so. How about after three o'clock? My sister will be home.

M: Sorry, but I have to visit another town at that time. Is it okay if I deliver it tomorrow?

W: Okay. I think that will work fine.

3번입니다.

대화를 듣고, 여자가 남자에게 충고하는 내용으로 가장 적절한 것을 고르세요.

W: You look drowsy. Did you get enough sleep last night?

M: Well, I went to bed pretty early, but I didn't sleep well.

W: Did you do anything out-of-the-ordinary?

M: No, not at all. I took my girlfriend out to that new Thai restaurant that opened up a few days ago.

W: Wait. Did you say you had Thai food for dinner? Did you eat something spicy?

M: Yeah. How did you know that?

W: I read an article that said eating spicy food right before you go to bed can affect the quality of your sleep.

M: Oh really? That doesn't make much sense. How about the Thai people who eat spicy food on a regular basis?

W: Well, the Thai food was spicy to you, but that would seem mild to someone who ate it all the time.

M: Oh, I see. I guess I'm not used to eating spicy things.

W: You should watch what you eat from now on if you want a good night's rest.

M: Thanks. I'll keep that in mind.

대화를 듣고, 두 사람이 대화하고 있는 장소로 가장 적절한 것을 고르세요.

W: Good afternoon, sir. How can I help you?

M: Hello, ma’am. I have three pairs of pants that need washing. I also have one jacket. Can you take up the sleeves? They're too long.

W: Okay. Would you put your jacket on and let me see how much shorter it needs to be?

M: No problem.

W: How about this much? Is it enough?

M: I'd like it a little bit shorter, like this.

W: Ok, I'm going to pin it. Is this all right?

M: That's perfect.

W: One of the buttons is loose. Do you want me to fix that too?

M: Sure, that'd be nice. When should I come back?

W: It'll be done in two days. Is that okay for you?

M: That's fine with me. How much will I owe you?

W: It'll be $25 to wash three pairs of pants and fix one jacket.

5번입니다.

대화를 듣고, 남자가 선택할 여행상품의 여행일수와 요금이 바르게 짝지어진 것을 고르세요.

[The telephone rings]

W: Hello, this is Mirae Tours.

M: Hello, I have a question.

W: Sure. What is it?

M: What tour schedules do you have to Southeast Asia?

W: We have two packages: seven days and ten days.

M: How much does each one cost?

W: The seven day tour is $1,000 and the ten-day tour will be $1,300.

M: What countries are included in the packages?

W: If you choose the seven-day trip, you will travel around Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Singapore. And if you choose ten days, the Philippines will be added. Are you going alone or with someone else?

M: I'm going with my wife.

W: Then you can get a $200 discount on your total price. If you register with one more person, we have a $100 discount each.

M: Very good. Then please register us for the ten-day package.

대화를 듣고, 여자가 구입할 PMP의 모델을 고르세요.

W: Can you help me? I need a PMP for watching EBS lectures.

M: Sure. Is there any particular model you have in mind?

W: Well, I think I need at least a 4GB model to store data.

M: What kind of display would you like?

W: I don't really know much about the choices.

M: Well, I recommend the LED display model. It looks much better than LCD.

W: I know it's clearer than LCD, but it's much more expensive than my budget.

M: I see. Then, do you want DMB function? You can watch TV programs anytime, anywhere.

W: I think DMB could be a big distraction.

M: Then, that leaves only one model for you.

W: Okay, I'll take it.

다음 뉴스를 듣고, 무엇에 관한 내용인지 고르세요.

[News Signal]

M: Good evening, listeners. Here's today's news: Two months ago groups of high school parents and some citizens filed a lawsuit against three large school uniform companies for fixing set prices on uniforms. The suit claims that the three companies, B, S, and E, charged 280 thousand won for school uniforms that were only worth 90 thousand won each. Today, the court ruled that the three companies must refund over two hundred million won to customers. The parents and groups were very pleased with the ruling.

M: What happened? Is something wrong with your dictionary?

W: It's not a big deal; the battery is just low.

M: You mean I can't use it for my homework right now?

W: No, it should be okay.

M: Good! I've got to go now.

W: What time will you come back home?

M: Good morning. My name is David Kwon. I made a reservation last week.

W: Just a moment, sir. Here it is. You reserved a smoking room with a king size bed for two nights. Is that correct?

M: No, it's not. I actually reserved a non-smoking room. I have severe asthma and cigarette smoke makes it worse.

W: I'm sorry, sir. Please wait a minute and I'll see if we have another room available. (pause) I'm sorry, but we're all booked.

M: I confirmed my reservation the other day. How could this have happened?

W: I'm sorry for the mix-up, sir.

M: Where should I sleep tonight then?

W: Well, since we made the error, my manager has agreed to put you in a suite tonight at no extra charge.

W: Legendary pop artist, John recently held a concert for music lovers. Known as the King of Ballads, he has performed more than 100 large-scale shows since he debuted in 1992. The three-hour concert featured three different themes - the past, present and future of John's music. The artist showed off his undiminished talent and passion during his first public performance in nearly two years. It was indeed a memorable night for 12,000 lucky fans.

M: Then, I'll have a Number Two.

W. Would you like cheese on it? It's 50 cents a slice.

M: Yes, I want two slices of cheese please. Oh, and can I have orange juice instead of Coke? I need to cut down on soda.

M: Yes, we are planning to.

W: Then, can I ask a favor of you?

대화를 듣고, 내용과 가장 잘 어울리는 속담을 고르세요.

M: Jennifer, you're reading so many books these days. Do you like reading?

W: I do, and in fact I'm trying to read as much as I can.

M: Why is that?

W: There's a saying, "A man who reads one book will be under the rule of another man who reads two books".

M: Hmm. That's interesting.

W: And I found another interesting fact. If you read just thirty minutes a day, you can finish a good-sized book in a week. That way, you can read more than fifty books a year.

M: Wow, that much? I didn't know that. But don't you think it's hard to find time to read?

W: Nothing comes easy. You should try to make the time. All you have to do is find some time here and there.

M: I guess that's something I could do.

W: Just remember, thirty minutes a day makes a big difference in the end.

W: Did you watch Kim Yeon-a's performance at the 2009 Figure Skating championships held in Vancouver?

M: Yes, I did. It was amazing when she set a new world record in the Short Program.

W: Indeed. I was so focused on her skating that I cried out, "Oh, no" when she fell down during the routine.

M: So did I. I thought that might cost her the championship.

W: Despite that mistake, she did her best to finish the performance, and she made it. It was very emotional to watch.

M: I know. She really is a source of hope and pride for Koreans.

W: You can say that again. You know, there's going to be another big competition next month.

M: Yes, and I hope she sets another world record.

W: ________________________________________________

17번입니다.

M: Cindy, you are yawning a lot these days. What's going on?

W: I read a book about "Morning People." And I found that being a morning person can have many advantages. So I 've been trying to get up one hour earlier than usual.

M: Oh, I see. That explains your yawning. Do you think your body is adapting to your new schedule?

W: Not really.

M: Well, do you go to bed earlier than usual?

W: No. I go to bed at the same time.

M: Cindy! You should know this. You need a certain amount of sleep to keep your body and mind working properly.

W: I know, but I don't want to go to bed early. I like to read and study at night.

M: Cindy! You can't have your cake and eat it, too. If you want to be a real morning person, you should go to bed earlier.

18번입니다.

W: How was today?

M: Not good. I didn't play well today.

W: Why? Was there a problem?

M: I don't know why, but lately I haven't felt like I've been playing well.

W: Maybe you weren't meant to play that kind of sport.

M: What do you mean?

W: You know, before you started playing this sport, you didn't frown so often when you came back home.

M: But this is my favorite hobby, and I’m just having some bad luck. Sooner or later it will be better. Don't worry.

W: Honey, why don't you change your hobby? Too much activity can be dangerous. Do you remember when you hurt your ankle?

M: ____________________________________

19번입니다.

M: What are you watching on the computer?

W: I'm watching a short movie clip about polar bears.

M: Polar bears? What does it say about them?

W: Because of global warming, the icebergs at the North Pole are melting, which means the polar bears' habitat is getting smaller and smaller.

M: Really? What else did you learn?

W: In the past they could go out far from their habitat to look for food by walking on the icebergs. However, because of warmer temperatures, they can't find as much food and they are losing weight.

M: I read that they need to gain a lot of weight to survive during the severe winter, and even to have healthy baby polar bears.

W: Also, when they're swimming to look for their food, they need to take a rest on the icebergs. But, the polar bears sometimes drown because they can't find another iceberg to rest on.

His mother was calling to see if he had fallen asleep before reaching the embassy. It startled him and he checked which station was coming up next. Fortunately, he did not miss his stop. In this case, what would his mother probably tell him?
