한국국제교류재단은 1991년 국제사회에서의 한국에 대한 올바른 인식과 이해를 돕고 국제적 우호친선을 증진시키기 위하 여 설립되었습니다. 한국의 대표적인 공공외교 전문기관으로서 학술·인적·문화교류 사업 등 다양한 국제교류활동을 통 해 한국, 한국인, 한국문화를 세계에 알리고 있습니다. 서울의 중심부, 청계천 변에 위치한 한국국제교류재단 문화센터는 다채로운 전시, 공연, 강좌 등의 프로그램을 통하여 우리 국민에게 다양한 외국문화 체험의 기회를 제공하고, 주한 외국인 에게는 한국 문화를 알리는 상호문화교류의 장으로 “세계 문화 사랑방”의 역할을 하고 있습니다. 한국국제교류재단과 문 화센터의 다양한 프로그램은 홈페이지www.kf.or.kr에서 확인하실 수 있습니다.

소프트파워의 중요성이 증대되고, 문화가 국가경쟁력의 핵심요소이자 부가가치를 창출하는 경제적 자원으로 부상하면서 문화외교가 외교력의 새로운 축으로 대두되고 있습니다. 이러한 시대적 변화에 맞추어 외교통상부는 예술, 지식, 미디어, 원조 등을 수단으로 상대국 국민에게 직접 다가가는 ‘공공외교’를 적극 추진하고 있는 한편, 우리나라와 문화교류가 상대 적으로 미진한 지역의 문화를 국내에 종합적으로 소개하는 ‘쌍방향문화교류사업’을 통해 양국민간 우호관계를 증진하고 우리 국민의 타국가에 대한 문화다양성 인식을 제고하는데 기여하고 있습니다.

The Korea Foundation was established in 1991 to promote awareness and understanding of Korea, and to enhance the goodwill and friendship of the international community toward Korea and its people. As a representative organization of Korea’s public diplomacy efforts, the Foundation implements a variety of activities and programs including support for Korean Studies worldwide as well as the promotion of cultural and people exchanges. And the Korea Foundation Cultural Center, located in the heart of Seoul nearby the Cheonggyechoen streams, serves as a venue for the Korean public to experience diverse foreign cultures through various programs including exhibitions and performances, and also as a venue for mutual cultural exchange through which foreigners residing in Korea can learn about Korean culture. Figuratively speaking, the Center is like a “venue for cross-cultural exchange” where all the cultures from around the world gather together. As 'soft power' is becoming increasingly important and culture has risen as a core element of a nation's competitiveness and economic resource that produces added value, 'cultural diplomacy' has become a new pilar of a country's diplomatic makeup.

To keep in pace with this change of times, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade(MOFAT) is making efforts to promote 'public diplomacy' that approaches the people of other countries directly by means of art, knowledge, media, aid and so on while ,through 'the Mutual cultural exchang program' introducing the culture of other countries that have relatively little cultural exchanges with Korea, contribute to building friendly relationships between Koreans and foreigners, and helping Koreans deepen the understanding of multiculturism of the other countries.

<2012 중남미문화축제>가 개최됩니다.

브라질의 삼바와 보사노바, 아르헨티나의 탱고, 자메이카의 레게 등 라틴 아메리카 국가들의 흥겨운 음악과 함께 라틴 아메리카 식음문화 체험전, 라틴문화 강연회 등 다양한 볼거리를 마련했습니다.

Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Korea Foundation is geared up to host Latin American Cultural Festival 2012.

Latin American’s music, such as Bosabova & Samba of Brazil, Argentina Tango, Jamaica Reggae, traditional food sample booth, and Latin culture lectures are prepared in this festival.
