FOR THE NATIONAL VOCATIONAL CENTER FOR TRAINERS
YAOUNDE JULY 10, 2013
……….
-H.E. Zacharie Perevet, Minister of Employment and Vocational Training;
-Distinguished Guests, -Ladies and Gentlemen:
It is my great pleasure to be here today on behalf of the Korean Government, on the occasion of the signing ceremony of the Record of Discussion for the National Vocational Center for Trainers.
As you well know, sustainable and long-term economic development requires joint efforts and commitment of Governments and their cooperation partners. It is in this regard that I would like to congratulate the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training of the Republic of Cameroon for working together with the Republic of Korea to ensure that Cameroon achieves its projected development objectives in the area of vocational training.
Vocational training is of utmost importance to the Korean Government as it is not only a key function in providing high quality technical skills for socio- economic development but it is also one of the main instruments used by Korea to make a remarkable
transition from
one of the poorest countries in the world to a major economic power. TheKorean government wishes to
share its unique experience with its partner countries and it is for this
reason that the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is funding the implementation of the National Vocational Center for Trainers Project.With the signing of the Record of Discussion, this Training Center will benefit from the first-rate expertise of KOICA experts in the area of construction and architecture, as well as development of vocational training programs.
Excellency, Ladies and gentlemen,
The Republic of Korea is strongly committed to contributing to Cameroon’s sustainable economic development and we are sparing no efforts in helping Cameroon to become an emerging country by 2035. The Korean Government is currently constructing three Vocational Training Centers in Limbe, Douala and Sangmelima through the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF). We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Cameroon to implement an E- procurement Master Plan in Cameroon and KOICA’s National Emergency Center Project in Yaounde is nearing completion.
All these projects reaffirm my country’s commitment in supporting the Cameroonian Government achieve its development objectives and also serve to enhance and strengthen our bilateral cooperation. I am confident that we will continue to achieve more socio-economic development for mutual benefit through our combined efforts.
Long live Korea – Cameroon cooperation, Long – live international cooperation!
Thank you.
