Participation of Chile in the cupper world market drops by 8,4 points in a decade

According to a study presented by the consulting firm ICR, Chile had a participation of 26,9 % in the world´s production of cupper which means a 8,4 decrease compared to the same figure of 10 years ago.

In 2006 the indicator was of 35,3%, with the production of 5,36 million tons. Admittedly, the quantity of production showed a increment up to 5,54 million ton, however other countries produced more. Some possible explanations of such drop are the high costs in the mining sector of Chile, as well as strikes and labor complications.
