ENERGY AND MINING

NEWS REPORT

The National Commission of Energy -CNE and the Association of Electricity generators consider the July 2016-public bid for electric provision marked an unprecedented success as 84 firms presented their proposals, compared to 38 presented in 2015.

A total of 12.430GWh will be allocated to supply electricity for the coming 20 years. According to Mr. Andrés Romero, Executive Secretary of CNE “the goal of reducing the electricity price for 25% will be surpassed thanks to this result, however final consumers will perceive the price reduction until 2021 when the new electricity will be injected to the grid”. Non Conventional Renewable Energy became another surprise as several proposals incorporated them as source for the electricity generation. Source:

Vice minister of Mining Ignacio Moreno stated that one of the objectives of the Government is “to upgrade environmental and technological standards”, therefore they invite private firms to operate contracts directly awarded by the Ministry of Mining. Options are opened, however expertise and deep understanding of the market is required.
