1. DOH reports 11 new recoveries, 14 deaths as COVID-19 cases rise to 3,764 CNN Philippines, 08 April 2020
The Department of Health has recorded 104 new cases of the of COVID-19 in the Philippines, bringing the total to 3,764 as of Tuesday. Meanwhile, the death toll is now at 177, with a total of 84 recoveries.
2. Duterte extends lockdown to April 30

President Duterte approved the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the
Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF) to extend the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to April 30, according to Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles.
3. ‘Recent cases show gov’t winning fight vs COVID’

Citing Department of Health (DOH) data, chief implementer of the National Task Force against COVID-19’s National Action Plan, Carlito Galvez Jr. said on that 20,092 people have undergone COVID-19 testing and out of this number, 3,660 have tested positive for the disease, which is only 18%.
He said that this is a sign that the government is winning the fight against the disease. He further laudedthe extension of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine which he says is a big help in preventing the further spread of COVID-19.

4. South Korea donates 950 MT rice as part of regional commitment Manila Bulletin, 08 April 2020, p. B1
The South Korean government has donated 950 metric tons (MT) of rice to the Philippines as part of its commitment to the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve Tier 3 (APTERR Tier 3).
The recipients of this donation would be the thousands of Filipino families adversely affected by natural disasters and calamities last year. This include the earthquake victims in Mindanao, particularly in North Cotabato and Davao del Sur, and other areas in regions 11 and 12, and flood victims in Cagayan Valley last year.

5. AMRO forecasts 4.5% PH growth amid COVID-19 woes Manila Bulletin, 08 April 2020, p. B3
The ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) has lowered its Philippine growth forecast to 4.5 percent this year from a previous 6.2 percent projection amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
AMRO also released its ASEAN+3 Regional Economic Outlook (AREO 2020) report, and it reduced the ASEAN+3 growth projection to just two percent in 2020 and then improve to 5.5 percent in 2021. The previous forecasts were 4.2 percent this year and five percent in 2021.
