Notice on Novel Coronavirus
(2019-nCoV)
The following measures will be taken if foreigners in Korea who are confirmed as a coronavirus (2019-nCoV) patient or subject to quarantine fail to apply for Extension of Stay before the expiration date. We hereby ask for your cooperation in order to prevent the Wuhan novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infection from spreading further.
m If a registered alien fails to apply for Extension of Stay before the expiration date as he/she is confirmed as a coronavirus patient or subject to quarantine, he/she can apply for extension of period of stay within 30 days after the quarantine period/treatment is finished without being punished for a violation of the Immigration Act.
- Therefore, if you are a confirmed coronavirus patient or subject to quarantine, please make sure to visit the immigration (branch) office after the quarantine period/treatment is completely finished.
m If a foreigner who has entered Korea on a short-term visa cannot depart within the permitted period of stay due to the novel
coronavirus infection, he/she can depart within 10 days after the quarantine period/treatment is finished, without having to apply for extension of period of stay*.
* Foreigners subject to departure suspension due to coronavirus infection can depart within 10 days after the suspension is lifted, without applying for extension of period of stay, etc.
