Press Statement on Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

World Wide

• By the time this press release was compiled, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) report on March 8, 2020 there are one hundred three thousand one hundred sixty eight (103,168) confirmed cases and three thousand five hundred seven (3,507) have died because of COVID-19.

• 95 countries have reported COVID-19 cases.

National

• Four hundred sixty seven thousand two hundred eighty (467,280) passengers have passed through all the point of entries to the country.

• Two hundred seventy seven thousand nine hundred seventy seven (277,977) have passed through the seven screening gates at Bole International Airport and out of these six thousand eight hundred fifty eight (6,858) are from countries that reported confirmed COVID-19 cases.

• Passengers who come from countries that reported COVID-19 cases have filled health report forms and were under follow up for 14 days, 1093 have completed their follow up. Totally 855 have completed the follow up and currently 1021 are under follow up.

• Indifferent times 35 individuals were made to stay at the isolation center as of January 24, 2020 and all the laboratory tests were negative thus the individuals have joined the community. Currently there is one individual in the center and the laboratory result is being expected.

• His Excellency FDRE Deputy Prime Minister has visited the Public Health Emergency Operation Center, activities at Bole International Airport and Aka Kotebe isolation center.

• Orientation on COVID-19 has been given to Tecno Mobile and Heinken Brewery S.C. employees and preparations to give orientation to Lebu Train Station employees.

• UNICEF has provided disinfection chemical (chlorine) to support Ethiopia prepardness of COVID-19.

• Preparations have been finalized to start intensive community mobilization.

If you have arrived from COVID-19 (Corona Virus disease) affected

• Avoid close contact with other people as you proceed to your home and stay in isolation from family members or friends for 14 days

• Please provide the right information about your health situation for follow up teams who call you daily for 14 days

• If you experience fever, cough and shortness of breath, call 8335 immediately for medical help.
