2019 가을학술논문발표회 및
임시총회
지난 10월 23일(수)에서 10월 25일(금) 까지 2019 가을학술논문발표회 및 임시 총회가 약 1,800여 명이 등록한 가운데 광주 김대중컨벤션센터에서 개최되었다. 이번 학술논문발표회에서는 15개 강연 장에서 진행된 평행 구두세션과 2개의 포 스터 세션에서 약 1,100편의 논문 발표 가 이루어졌으며, 3개의 튜토리얼 세션, 6개의 파이어니어 심포지엄, 24개의 포 커스 세션이 운영되었다. 한국물리학회, IBS, KIAS가 공동 주최한 기조강연에서 는 2018년 노벨물리학상 수상자이면서 광학 분야의 대가인 Gérard Mourou (Ecole Polytechnique) 교수가 초청되어 ‘Passion for Extreme Light’란 제목으로 강연을 진행하였다. 그 밖에 학회에서 기 획한 특별세션으로 정책세션, 새물리세션, 출연연세션, 여성세션, NFEC세션, 물리 대중강연, APCTP 저자강연 및 학부생작 품발표회가 개최되어 비학술 분야에서도 다양한 지식과 정보를 제공하였다. 특히 정책세션에서는 한국연구재단의 기초연구 사업의 현황을 소개하고 과제 선정, 배분, 평가 방법에 대한 우리 학회 회원의 의견 을 수렴하는 자리를 마련하였다. 한편 10월 23일(수) 오후 6시 30분에 개최된 임시총회 1부에서는 2019년 가을 한국물리학회상 수상자에 대한 시상이 진 행되었으며, 임기 만료 편집위원에 대한 감사인사가 있었다. 2부에서는 추가된 집 행부 명단 소개와 함께 2019년 1월∼10 월 14일 현재까지의 회무보고가 있었다. 이어서 개최된 2019년 제3차 평의원회에 서는 신임편집위원 인준과 신입평의원 인 준이 이루어졌다. 한국물리학회상 수상자 명단 논문상: 조규만(서강대), 여준현(건국대), 홍정일(DGIST) 장려상: 김지호(서울시립대) 젊은물리학자상: 김강원(서강대), 안준 영(서울대), 최수민(중앙대) 공로상: 김승환(포항공대) 우수여성대학원생상: 박유정(동아대) 융문반도체논문상: 변혜령(성균관대) 신진물리학자상: 문은국(KAIST) CAP Young Researcher Award: 오혜 민(성균관대)천체물리학상: 염동한(부산대) 파이오니어 심포지엄

학술위원회는 11월 22일 오후 5시 학 회 회의실에서 회의를 개최하여 2019 가을학술대회 정리와 차기 학술대회 계 획을 논의하였다.물리어벤져스 10월 강연 개최
한국물리학회가 주관하는 물리대중강 연 [2019 물리어벤져스] 두 번째 시리즈 의 첫 번째 강연이 한국물리학회 가을학 술대회의 행사 중 하나로 10월 24일 저 녁 6시 30분에 광주광역시 김대중컨벤션 센터 214호에서 열렸다. 한국표준과학연구원 시간표준센터의 이 호성 책임연구원은 “킬로그램의 정의가 바뀌었다. 왜? 어떻게?”란 제목으로 알기 쉽고 재미있는 강의를 선사하였다. 이호 성 박사는 측정에는 항상 불확실성이 있 으며, 불확실도를 줄이는 노력도 중요할 뿐 아니라, 불확실도를 아는 것도 중요하 다고 하였다. 측정에서 가장 중요한 것이 기준(즉, 표준)을 설정하는 것인데 길이, 부피, 무게 측정의 방법 및 도구를 의미 하는 도량형의 통일은 고대부터 현대에 이르기까지 정치, 경제, 산업에 가장 중 요한 것이었다. 그래서 1875년 5월 20 일에 세계 여러나라들이 미터협약을 체 결하고, 이 날을 ‘세계측정의 날’로 기념 하고 있다. 이후 1889년에 국제도량형총 회(CGPM)는 길이와 질량의 단위, 즉 미 터와 킬로그램을 정의했다. 중요한 물리 량으로 길이, 시간, 질량이 있는데, 이호 성 박사는 이들 물리량의 표준이 어떻게 정해졌으며 시대에 따라, 기술의 발전에 따라 어떻게 변해왔는지 설명하였다. 최 근 개정된 국제단위계(SI)는 기본물리상 수로부터 단위를 정의했는데, 길이 단위 인 미터를 불변의 상수인 광속을 기준으 로 정의한 것이 좋은 예이다. 질량의 단 위인 킬로그램만이 인공적인 물질 기반 즉 백금과 이리듐의 합금체로 남아 있었 는데, 올해부터 정확한 값으로 선언된 플 랑크 상수를 기준으로 다시 정의했다. 새 로 정의된 킬로그램 단위로 질량을 측정 하기 위해 키블저울이라는 새로운 장치 가 개발되었다. 이것은 정교하게 정의된 전자기력을 기준으로 재려는 물체에 가 해지는 중력과 비교하는 장치이다. 여러 물리 개념이 들어 있어 쉽지 않 은 내용이었지만 이호성 박사는 친절한설명으로 청중에게 새로운 킬로그램 정 의의 의의와 내용을 잘 전달하였다. 본 강연은, 평생을 표준 관련 연구에 헌신한 연구자로서의 생생한 경험과 전문성을 느낄 수 있는 유익한 강연이었다. 강연 후 청중들과의 질의응답을 통해 많은 궁 금증을 해소하는 기회를 가졌다. 모든 참 석자들은 사이언스 북스의 후원으로 사 이언스 북스 출판 도서를 증정받았다.
