When you walk along the Dalmaji Pass, you will find a building covered in thicket. This is Johyun Gallery, which celebrates its 25th year anniversary this year. When it opened its 2nd gal-lery in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul in 2007, it became a big deal since it was a province-based gallery opening another space in Seoul. Johyun Gallery exhibits the works of leading artists of Korea, and the works of masters from Korea and abroad while it continues to find and curate the works of young and emerging artists. Johyun Gallery presents the works of Ahn Doojin who has established a theory of ‘Imaquark’ from Nov.

25년의 전통 깊은 갤러리, 조현 화랑

달맞이 고개를 올라가다 보면 울창한 수풀에 뒤덮인 건물 하나가 보인 다. 바로 올해로 개관 25주년을 맞이하는 조현 화랑. 지난 2007년 서울 청담동에 분관을 오픈하였는데, 당시 지방에 거점을 둔 갤러리가 서울 에 분관을 내어 이슈가 되기도 한 곳이다. 조현 화랑은 한국 현대 회화 를 이끈 작가들의 전시를 중심으로, 국내외 거장뿐만 아니라 역량 있는 젊은 작가들을 꾸준히 발굴하고 기획하는데에 힘쓴다. 11월 14일부터 12월 14일까지 한 달간 ‘이마워크’라는 미술이론을 정립한 작가 안두진 의 작품이 전시 될 예정이라고 한다.

Warm and cozy like home, chaes art center

When you walk through a side door of Starbucks at Dalmaji Pass, you will find a pretty building that almost belongs to a fairy tale. Chaes Art Center, which won the ‘Beautiful Archi-tecture Award’ presented by Busan, has unique and splen-did interiors and exteriors. The sunlight coming through the glass window at the top floor reaching the first floor is ex-ceptionally beautiful. Café is located on the first floor, exhibi-tions are held in the second floor, students are taught on the third floor and the director lives in the fourth floor. Each floor has its unique style. You can tell that the director tried hard to create a place for the locals to casually enjoy a cup of cof-fee. Students of Chaes Art Center are mainly the locals liv-ing near Haeundae-gu and their works will be exhibited in the end of the year.

우리집처럼 따뜻하고 아늑한, 채스아트센터

달맞이고개 스타벅스 쪽문을 따라 쭉 올라가면 마치 동화 속에 나올법 한 예쁜 건물이 있다. 부산시로부터 ‘아름다운 건축상’을 수상했던 채 스아트센터는 과연 그 수상 경력에 걸맞게 독특하고 멋진 외부와 내부 구조를 자랑한다. 특히 꼭대기층의 천장 유리를 통해 1층까지 내려오 는 자연 채광이 인상적이다. 1층은 까페, 2층은 전시실, 3층은 수강생 들을 교육하는 곳, 그리고 채스아트센터의 관장님이 직접 살고 계신 4 층까지. 층 마다의 분위기가 모두 다르다. 지역 주민들이 지나가다 편히 들러 가볍게 커피한 잔 할 수 있는 공간으로 만들기 위한 관장님의 노 력이 곳곳에 보인다. 채스아트센터의 수강생들은 주로 해운대구 근처에 거주하는 시민들이며, 올 연말 수강생들의 작품 전시회를 열 예정이다.

First opening in Garosugil, Seoul, S+ opened its second space in Haeundae, Busan. The gallery is a groundbreaking one bringing together a concept store for kids, restaurant, art gallery, and private party spaces. Therefore, visitors of the S+ are typically families. S+ Gallery is a small gallery lo-cated on the 6th floor of S+ building. The philosophy of the gallery is to break the barrier of culture to invite everyone to enjoy art works comfortably. The gallery presents new per-formances and exhibitions regularly which not only include works of well-known artists from Korea and abroad, but also North European furniture from masters including Arne Jacob-son and Hans Wegner. The gallery presents Shin Dong-won’s ceramic pieces that illustrate everyday life from Oct. 22 to Nov. 30, 2014.

서울 가로수길을 시작으로 해운대에서 두번째로 열린 복합 문화 공간, 에스플러스. 키즈 편집샵과 레스토랑, 아트 갤러리 그리고 프라이빗한 파티를 한 공간에서 즐길 수 있는 신개념 공간으로, 가족단위의 고객들 이 주를 이룬다. 에스플러스 갤러리는 바로 이 건물의 6층에 위치한 아 담한 갤러리이다. 쉽게 다가갈 수 없었던 문화의 벽을 허물어 누구나 예 술품을 편안하게 즐길 수 있도록 하는 것이 에스플러스 갤러리의 이념.

When you walk up along Moontan road while enjoying the ocean breeze, you will find a small door leading to a gallery.

Since its opening exhibitions of Ko So-mi’s installation works in March, Merciel bis has been exhibiting and selling a vari-ety of works. roaring currents became the biggest film of all time at the south Korean box office. moreover, the film was sold to 13 countries including taiwan, india, australia, and new Zealand through the asia film market held at the Busan international film festival (Biff). the large-scale battle scenes received great attention from the audience. the scene was really not created by admiral yi sun-shin, but someone else. the real creator is Pro-ducer sung-yong Park from ‘macro Graph.’

‘매크로그래프’는 영화 <명량> 이전에, 2008년 한국 최초로 할리우드 영화 <포비든 킹덤>을 수주해 업계의 많은 주목을 받았고, 2013년 중국에서 흥행 1위를 기록했던 영화 <서유항마편>, 2014년 중국흥행 1위를 기록한 <더 몽키킹>, 그리고 하정우 주연의 <더 테러 라이브> 등의 작품이 연이어 인기몰이를 하며 컴퓨터그래픽 분야에서 독보적인 위치를 점하게 됐다.

In 2014, when it comes to Korean films, we can never forget about the film The Admiral: Roaring Currents. It was a film that broke the record of 13 million admissions in Korea (Ava-tar), and become the movie of the country. More than 90% of the film’s running time (around 60 minutes) consists of battle scenes and not many people know that 1,200 scenes out of 1,300 were created by Computer Graphics (CG). Behind the scenes of the battlefield, 200 people worked in the ‘battle’ of Computer Graphics for over two years. Thanks to them, we can enjoy the spectacular battles.

Producer Sung-yong Park, who was in charge of the entire CG operation said, “In order to complete it 100%, you need time.

However, the truth is, there is never enough time. Therefore, 150 to 200 designers had to work day and night. The actu-al number of ships used in the film is four. Also, only 20 ac-tors participated in the hand-to-hand fight. Everything else was Computer Graphics. From the total production cost of 19 billion KRW, 4.3 billion KRW went into Computer Graphics.

In 2013 and 2014, the company worked on the Chinese films Jour-ney to the West: Conquering the Demons and The Monkey King. The team also worked on Korean film, The Terror Live.

Through a variety of film work, the company slowly gained a reputation in Computer Graphics. Currently, Macro Graph is working on Stephen Chow’s new film Mermaid, The Battle of Yeonpyeong, and The Host 2.
