Kuwait congratulations to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait on his first anniversary of ascending the throne.

Romanowski said in a statement, “The United States considered Sheikh Nawaf a close friend for several years and while he was a crown prince, and we cannot forget the crucial role he played as Minister of Interior in 1983 when Kuwait witnessed terrorist blasts in main locations across the country including our Embassy.”

She added, “Both our countries witnessed major events in the year HH Sheikh Nawaf ascended the throne. The 41st summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council culminated in signing Al-Ula agreement that ended disputes among GCC allies which lasted for more than 3 years. Part of this diplomatic achievement is attributed to mediation of HH the late Amir Sabah Al-Ahmad beside the wise leadership of HH Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad.” Romanowski continued, “Without Kuwait’s role in bridging the gap between our partners we wouldn’t have been able to know the future of GCC’s unity.”

Romanowski said, “Last February, both our countries celebrated the 30th anniversary of liberation when the international coalition and US forces defeated Saddam Hussein’s forces in 1991.”

She further added, “Antony Blinken’s visit to Kuwait last July was the first to the GCC region as Secretary of State, which indicates Kuwait’s importance to the US. Moreover, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met HH the Amir during his visit to Kuwait.”

She added, “HH’s decision of facilitating the passage of Afghan translators through Kuwait is considered an essential element to the success of one of the largest evacuation operations in the US history, while thousands of lives were saved due to Kuwait’s humanitarian contribution.
