Kuwait Amir, US president Biden hail distinguished bilateral ties
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah discussed Kuwait’s close and distinguished bilateral relations with the US during a phone conversation with President Joe Biden on Wednesday.
The US president commended these historic ties, and the two countries’
keenness to boost them, underlining his country’s unwavering support for the security and stability of Kuwait, according to a statement by the Amiri Diwan.
He also expressed his country’s gratitude for Kuwait’s “humanitarian role” in facilitating the safe transit of people from Afghanistan, and thus the success of US evacuation plans.
Biden also wished His Highness the Amir good health, and Kuwait growth and prosperity under the Amir’s wise leadership.
For his part, His Highness the Amir was grateful for the warm sentiments expressed by the president, emphasizing the strength of the bond between the two nations, “whom throughout history have proven to be friends and allies.”
He also congratulated the president on the success on what he described as the
“largest-ever evacuation,” and said he appreciates the continued communication between both countries, which reflects their close relationship.

Lieutenant Major General Khaled Al-Mekrad received, during Kuwait Fire Forces’ press statement yesterday, Ambassador Ejaili.
General Al-Mekrad welcomed the Tunisian Ambassador and his accompanying delegation where they have discussed bilateral relations in the fields of firefighting and rescue.

Kuwait crude oil gain 18 cents Wed. to USD 72.79 pb- KPC
Kuwait crude oil gained 18 cents during Wednesday’s trading session to reach USD 72.79 per barrel compared with USD 72.61 pb the day before, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) said Thursday.
Brent dropped four cents to USD 71.59 pb while West Texas Intermediate gained nine cents higher to USD 68.59 pb.

Kuwait oil minister hails “prudent” OPEC+ policies amid COVID response Kuwait’s oil minister on Wednesday praised the “prudent” policies of OPEC and its allies as they sought to rein in crude output in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, saying such efforts helped balance the global oil market. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies have agreed, amid virtual talks on Wednesday, to release 400,000 barrels per day (bpb) to the market in October, with Kuwait contributing a share of 27,000 bpb, Dr.
Mohammad Al-Fares said in a statement.
The minister applauded his country’s efforts to get leading global oil producers on the same page, which triggered “landmark” decisions that served the best interests of oil producers and consumers alike, he added.

MP Al-Jomhour interrogates Min. Al-Shaya
Member of Parliament Fayez Al-Jomhour directed an interrogation letter to Minister of State for Housing Affairs and Urban Development Shaya Al-Shaya which consists of two focal points.
The letter first accused Minister Al-Shaya of evading ministerial responsibilities and accused the Public Authority for Housing Welfare of giving up upon Al- Mutlaa and South Saad Al-Abdullah cities.
As for the second point, Al-Jomhour accused Minister Al-Shaya of complicity with the Minister of Finance and Kuwait Credit Bank to impose real estate financing as the only option to fund real estates’ loans to benefit commercial banks.
He added that the housing crisis is one of the most important issues that has impacts on Kuwait’s society, politics and economy, especially that Kuwait’s population is increasing rapidly, therefore, housing applications are piling up.

Kuwait reports 101 new COVID-19 cases, one death
Kuwait’s daily coronavirus cases rose by 101 to 409,961 as deaths increased by one to 2,420, according to the health ministry on Wednesday.
Another 252 people were cured of the virus, raising the total of those to have overcome the disease to 405,320, ministry spokesperson Dr. Abdallah Al-Sanad said in a statement.
The number of people hospitalized with the virus currently stands at 171, with 84 of them in intensive care units, he added, revealing that another 2,221 are receiving regular treatment.

Ministry of Interior Undersecretary referred to retirement
Al-Qabas was informed that Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Major General Essam Al-Naham was referred to retirement after the end of his tenure and was promoted to Lieutenant General.
Sources added that Lieutenant General Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf is most likely to assume the position of Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior.

A decree was issued yesterday appointing Sheikh Khaled Talal Al-Ahmad as Undersecretary of the Amiri Diwan. Another decree was issued appointing Sheikh Majed Mohammed Al-Yusef Al-Sabah as Assistant Undersecretary of the Amiri Diwan.

Kuwait’s new airport terminal to create 15,000 jobs for Kuwaitis
Kuwait International Airport’s new terminal will provide 15,000 job opportunities to young Kuwaiti nationals, Minister of Public Works Rana Al- Fares revealed on Wednesday.
The construction of the first phase out of three for Terminal 2 reached 54 percent in August, Al-Fares, who doubles as Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology Affairs, told KUNA.
The Minister described T2 as a facility that will provide a major boost to aviation services in the country, in line with international standards.
The massive project is being built in accordance with ‘green building standards’, a certification proving its conformity to environmentally-friendly practices, leadership in recycling and classification as one of the most sustainable buildings in the world, she added.
