ASEAN Chair’s Press Statement

on the ASEAN Center of Military Medicine (ACMM) 23 June 2019, Bangkok, Thailand

At the 34th ASEAN Summit on 23 June 2019, the ASEAN Leaders welcomed the inclusion of the ASEAN Center of Military Medicine (ACMM) as a subsidiary body under the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) in Annex 1 of the ASEAN Charter.

The ACMM was established under the framework of the ADMM in 2016. Its mission is to promote cooperation among ASEAN Member States in the area of military medicine. The ACMM also works in partnership with related agencies and international and regional organisations to support all areas of military medical collaboration.

With this new status, the ACMM can further contribute to enhancing ASEAN cooperation in military medicine, strengthen ASEAN’s response to disasters and help reinforce a people-centred ASEAN Community that leaves no one behind.
