INTERNATIONAL LABOUR ORGANIZATION

13th African Regional Meeting

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 30 November–3 December 2015 AFRM.13

Information on visa requirements

All foreign visitors to Ethiopia must hold a valid passport.

A visa is required for all visitors to Ethiopia, except for nationals of Djibouti and Kenya. A visa should be obtained either before departure through an Ethiopian embassy, where present, or upon arrival at Bole International Airport.

Holders of a diplomatic passport are exempt from obtaining a visa to Ethiopia.

The ILO will facilitate visa arrangements for official delegates to the 13th African Regional Meeting.

To enable the ILO to do so, it is essential that delegates provide the ILO with their passport details (country of issue; passport number; issuance date and expiry date), as well as a valid email address. It is recommended that this information is collected by governments for all members of the tripartite delegation and communicated to the ILO, together with the credentials, using the form for credentials available on the 13th African Regional Meeting website. 1

Obtaining a visa before departure

Ethiopian embassies are present in Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Participants from these countries (except from Djibouti and Kenya) are advised to obtain an entry visa for Ethiopia, as appropriate, before departing for Addis Ababa. A visa upon arrival will normally not be granted to visitors holding a national passport from a country where Ethiopia has consular representation. See below for a complete list of Ethiopian embassies in the Africa region, with contact details.

Upon receipt of credentials for delegates from the abovementioned countries, the ILO will support visa applications with the Ethiopian authorities.

Obtaining a visa upon arrival

Participants at the Meeting arriving from a country with no Ethiopian consular representation may obtain a visa upon arrival at Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa.

Upon receipt of credentials for the delegates from countries concerned and each delegate’s passport details and email address, the ILO will facilitate issuance of visas upon arrival. Delegates will receive, by email, in advance of travelling, a copy of a document containing the pre-approval of their visa which will then be issued upon arrival.

Participants should carry a copy of this document to be presented to the immigration services at Bole International Airport.

Participants are reminded that a visa fee is applicable for the issuance of a visa upon arrival (payable upon arrival at Bole International Airport).
