1. PH, China sign six agreements

Six agreements were signed by the Philippines and China during President Duterte’s meeting with President Xi Jinping. The agreements were on education, science and technology, customs, and development assistance. President Duterte reaffirmed the value of his personal and official relationship with Xi, and the trust and respect the two countries have been building since he took office in 2016.

The Philippine Navy (PN) will send 200 personnel to the first maritime exercises among the naval forces of the United States and member-states of the Association Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) 2019 in Thailand. The ASEAN-United States Maritime Exercise (AUMX) is the first-ever maritime drill between the navies of the ASEAN member-states and the United States.

4. Philippines targets more markets for its products

The Philippines is moving to expand the reach of its products, setting its sights on Africa, South Asia, Central Asia and Eastern Europe, the Department of Trade and Industry said in a statement on Thursday. The government has been setting outbound business matching missions (OBMM) with countries where it has spotted trade potentials.
