LUNCHEON FOR PRESIDENT PLEVNELIEV AT THE KOREAN RESIDENCE
Upon the initiative of Ambassador Dr. Chun Beeho and driven by the wish to boost the relations between Bulgaria and ASEM Asia countries, the Korean Embassy organized a working luncheon for President Rosen Plevneliev and ASEM Asia ambassadors in Sofia titled “Bulgaria-Asia Partnership Vision”. In an interactive discussion President Plevneliev outlined topical infrastructure and development projects and opportunities provided by the investment climate in the country. Other discussed topics covered domestic political developments, scientific and technical cooperation, education, cultural exchange. Minister Assen Vassilev of Economy, Energy and Tourism attended the luncheon as well.
KOREAN TOURISM ORGANIZATION AT VELIKO TARNOVO EXPO
For the first time representatives of the Korean Tourism Organization participated in the International Tourist Exchange “Cultural Tourism” held on April 18-20 in Veliko Tarnovo. They promoted Korea as a tourist destination of growing interest for traveling Bulgarians and studied opportunities for developing cultural tourist routes for the growing number of Koreans visiting this region.
ANNUAL KOREAN LANGUAGE TEST ENJOYS GROWING INTEREST
The Korean language proficiency test TOPIC was carried out on April 20. As many as 68 participants with different level of knowledge of Korean sat for the test. The number of applicants is constantly growing which shows that interest towards Korean language and culture is spreading more and more in Bulgaria.

DAYS OF KOREAN CULTURE IN SOFIA
Days of Korean Culture were held at Sofia's National Palace of Culture in the framework of the 18th Salon des Arts.
Photographer Lee Dong-chun presented a photo exhibition of 67 photos entitled
"Jongga".The Jongga tradition has been alive for over 600 years. It refers to the home of the eldest son in the family which, since the times of the Joseon Dynasty (1392 - 1897), has been the centre of dissemination of the Confucian tradition from one generation to another. The photographer said that her trip to Jongga produced pictures of Koreans' souls, lifestyle and the beautiful locations they inhabit.
The young Korean cellist Angela Park performed works by Beethoven, Poulenc, and the Korean composer Isang Yun on April 8. The musician has toured the world's most prestigious concert venues, ranging from the Berlin Philharmonic to Carnegie Hall. The cello on which she plays was crafted at the famous workshop of Pierre and Hippolyte Silvestre in Lyon in 1845.
The Korean film "A Reason to Live" (2011), directed by Lee Jeong-hyang, was screened on April 23. The picture raises serious issues about juvenile crime, death penalty and moral convictions and principles.
The three events attracted many fans and become another bridge of spiritual rapprochement and understanding between Korea and Bulgaria.
KOREAN WINNER AT VENICE FILM FESTIVAL SCREENED IN SOFIA
The first Korean film to win the "Golden Lion for Best Film" at the Venice Film Festival in 2012 “Pieta” directed by Kim Ki-Duk was shown during the 17th Sofia Film Festival March 2013. The festival cherishes special interest towards Korean movie industry and Kim Ki-Duk has been on its poster often enough. Focused on three themes: money, family and atonement or redemption, the movie isn't so much about Kim Ki-Duk’s answer, but is a provocation to the audience.
