PARK GEUN-HYE – THE NEW PRESIDENT OF KOREA
On December 19th the Republic of Korea elected its first female leader in the face of Park Geun-hye. The 60-year-old candidate of the ruling conservative Saenuri Party was elected president pledging ‘‘impartiality,’’ “national harmony,’’ and ‘‘reconciliation,’’
saying she would bring people into her government ‘‘regardless of their regional background, gender, and generation.’’In her first series of meetings with business leaders since the election, Park stressed her desire to balance the economy between the haves and the have-nots.
KOREAN-BULGARIAN FESTIVE CLASSICAL CONCERT
On December 19th the Korean embassy celebrated the holiday season with its partners and friends at a Korean- Bulgarian festive classical concert. The guests had the pleasure to enjoy performances by two outstanding young Korean musicians. Violinist Ms. You Jin Jang and pianist Mr. Tae Hyung Kim played the Beethoven Piano Concerto No.4 and Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concert in D Major with Symphony Orchestra of the Bulgarian National Radio under the baton of Maestro Emil Tabakov. GALA CONCERT AND DINNER
On December 17th the Korean Embassy organized a Korean Gala Night. The highlight of the evening was not the elegant dinner at Sheraton, but the exquisite performances by the tenor Hun Lee and the world-recognized soprano Tsvetelina Maldzhanska under the inspired baton of Mrs. Ljubka Biagioni. The guests also savored the musical performancesof two young talented Korean musicians- Ms. You Jin Jang and Mr. Tae Hyung Kim. The discovered by the distinguished Kumho Art Foundation musicians performed Mozart Violin concerto No.4 and Bach Piano concerto No.5.

KOREAN STYLE NIGHT 2012
The Korean K-pop phenomenon PSY with his mega-hit Gangnam Style inspired the Korean embassy to organize anend-of-year party dedicated to the increasing number of K-wave fans in Bulgaria. On December 12 the Korean embassy organized a real Korean Style Night.The Korean Party included a series of dance performances under the sounds of K-pop hits, as well as a special K-quiz, testing the guests’ knowledge of Korea and the winners received a number of exciting prizes. At the end of the night, everyone was a winner, having the chance to taste delicious authentic Korean food and leaving with special holiday gifts from Korea.Link to photo gallery.
