서 론L.P.G는 Liquefied Petroleum gas (액화석유가스) 의 약자로 석유계 저급탄화수소의 혼합물이며 프 로판, 프로필렌, 부탄, 부틸렌이 주성분으로 되어 있고 메탄, 에탄이 소량 포함되어 있다. L.P.G는 몇 가지 특성을 가지고 있는데 그 특성을 보면 다음 과 같다. 1) 액화, 기화가 용이하다. 2) 기체일 때 공기보다 무겁고, 액체일 때 물보다 가볍다. 3) 액
화하면 체적이 작아진다. 4) 용기 내의 압력은 온 도 또는 조성에 의해서 변한다. 5) 순수한 L.P.G는 무색, 무취하다. 6) 기화할 때 다량의 열을 필요로 한다. 이중에서 기화할 때 주위로부터 열을 빼앗는 특성 때문에 L.P.G에 직접 닿으면 동상에 걸릴 수 가 있다.1)
저자들은 L.P.G통을 교환하는 도중에 L.P.G에 노출되어 발생한 동상 2예를 경험하였기에 이에 보고하는 바이다.

L.P.G is one of the widely used fuel in house and restaurant. It is usually stored in metal
containers. On contact with human skin it causes frostbite. The severiy of the frostbite is dependent on the skin surface involved and the duration of action. We present two cases of exposure to L.P.G in house during change the metal container. One case was treated conservatively and the other case was applied split thickness skin graft.
