Kuwait FM, Canadian counterpart discuss Afghanistan’s situation
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr.
Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah discussed, in a phone call, with Canada Foreign Minister Marc Garneau the latest developments of the situation in Afghanistan.
Garneau, who initiated the call, expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to Kuwait for its efforts to secure the safe passage and evacuation of the US and other foreign diplomats and nationals from Afghanistan to their countries.
For his part, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad reaffirmed the importance of the safe evacuation of stranded diplomats and foreign nationals from Afghanistan to their respective countries to avoid bloodshed and save lives.

Pakistan Amb: Pakistan is full of opportunities for Kuwaiti investors
Pakistan’s Board of Investment has appointed Hussein Al-Shammaa as the executive manager of Be Energy Company and an honorary consultant of Pakistan’s investment to strengthen bilateral trade and investment between Pakistan and Kuwait.
On this occasion, the Pakistani Ambassador to Kuwait Sayed Sajjad Haider commended this cooperation that aims to fill the gap between investors and our government besides enhancing our friendly policies to invest in Pakistan and to attract as much as possible of foreign investors from Kuwait.
In a press conference, Haider hailed, at Pakistan Embassy to Kuwait, the deep
Investment Bank would help and facilitate procedures for Kuwaiti investors who are excited to visit Pakistan.

Kuwait crude oil up to USD 68.13 pb-KPC
Kuwait crude oil went up 55 cents during Monday’s trading sessions to reach USD 68.13 pb compared to USD 67.58 pb last Friday, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) said Tuesday.
Brent also closed with a huge up of USD 3.57 to USD 68.75 pb while West Texas Intermediate gained USD 3.50 to reach USD 65.64 pb.

USD stable against KD at 0.300
Exchange rate of the US Dollar against the Kuwaiti Dinar remained stable at KD 0.300, same did the Euro at KD 0.353, said the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) Wednesday.
The CBK added in its bulletin that the British Pound Sterling remained at KD 0.412, while the Swiss Franc went down to KD 0.328, and the Japanese Yen was unchanged at KD 0.003.

‘Reconnaissance’ participates in Al-Rafidain Forum, Baghdad 2021
Al-Rafidain Forum entitled “solutions” is to be held in Baghdad on August 29 for three days attended by high Iraqi officials beside international guests, politicians and researchers from big strategic centers, such as:
1- International Crisis Group, Belgium.
2- Chatham House, Britain.
3- Institute for Political and International Studies, Iran.
4- United States Institute of Peace.
5- International Institute for Iranian Studies, Saudi Arabia.
Regarding Reconnaissance Research participation in the forum, Chairman of Al-Rafidain Center for Dialogue Zaid Sabah Al-Talaqani stressed on the importance of strategic research centers adding that they contribute to a great extent in decision making and public opinion directions related to our region.
Reconnaissance Research Founder and CEO Abdulaziz Al-Anjeri said: “we had established in 2020 the “Iraqi Matters Management” section in our center as a reference for decision makers and researchers in both countries to develop a dialogue that contributes to building a promising future, furthermore, our participation in Al-Rafidain Forum supports this visions.”

2,6 bln, Kuwait’s share of IMF
The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) data revealed that the share of members of Arab countries of the fund is around 5,72% which is USD 37,18 billion in form of special drawing rights that reached 26 billion.
The IMF has started for the fourth time in history distributing special drawing rights on members reaching USD 650 billion, which is the greatest in history,
As for Kuwait, it will get 1869,6 special drawing rights which is USD 2,66 billion.

Kuwait lists 166 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths
Kuwait’s daily coronavirus cases rose by 166 to 408,600 as death increased by two to 2,409, the health ministry said on Tuesday.
Another 583 people were cured of the virus, raising the total of those to have overcome the disease to 402,420, according to ministry spokesperson Dr.
Abdallah Al-Sanad in a statement.
The number of people hospitalized with the virus at COVID-19 wards in 281, with 112 of them in intensive care units, he added, revealing that another 3,771 are receiving regular treatment.
Some 11,923 swab tests were conducted over the last day out of a total of 3,699,218, mentioned the official.

Kuwait resumes direct flights with six countries
The Civil Aviation Authority yesterday announced the resumption of direct commercial flights with India, Egypt and four Asian nations starting today after several months of suspension to combat the coronavirus pandemic. The resumption of the flights also includes Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Together, the six nations have more than 70 per cent of the 3.3 million expats living and working in Kuwait. The first flight is expected to arrive from Egypt after midnight on Wednesday to be followed with two flights from India.
The civil aviation circular emphasized the need to observe health guidelines.

Kuwait vaccinated 70% of population
Kuwait’s Health Minister Sheikh Dr. Bassel Al-Sabah’s announcement that 70 percent of population have been vaccinated disseminated optimism nationwide that community immunity was within reach. The announcement came after almost two years of strict measures triggered by the coronavirus pandemic, including lockdowns and partial curfews.
