Precautionary Measures for Emergencies: Kuwait Ports Authority

General Manager of Kuwait Ports Authority, Sheikh Yousef Al-Abdullah presided a coordination meeting to discuss the security plans to secure ports and utilities of Kuwait Ports Authority with the attendance of representatives of the competent authorities at the Ministry of Defense, MOI and KFSD.

Al-Abdullah commended the efforts of security authorities to secure the utilities of Kuwait Ports Authority in land and sea.

He said that it is necessary to take all the necessary precautionary measures for all potential scenarios in cases of peace, accidents or emergencies when foreign commercial ships pass to Kuwait regional waters.

Meanwhile, representatives of the MOI and the KFSD provided their notes and necessary proposals to optimize the security level of the three ports.

In this regard, Al-Abdullah announced formation of a joint coordination committee to meet all the requirements and needs of the security authorities mentioned in the meeting.

Municipality Defends Children’s Rights and Prevents Child Work in Streets: Al-Manfouhi

General Manager of Kuwait Municipality, engineer Ahmad Al-Manfouhi said that the Municipality will defend children’s rights by preventing them from working in streets.

Meanwhile, Al-Manfouhis said that prevention of children’s work in streets is based on Law No. 21/2015 regarding children’s rights, which makes the parent or custodian legally accountable.

He further remarked that Article 76 of the Law has warned from abusing children for trading purposes.

The aim of the Municipality is to protect children as it is noticed recently that there is unusual tendency as there are large number of children in the streets who work below the legal age, said Al-Manfouhi.

These children stand at hazardous places that put their life at stake. Moreover, they are exposed to the harmful rays and heat of the sun, he added.

He further remarked that he issued direct instructions for all branches of governorates to directly move to prevent the spread of this phenomenon in order to protect children.

He announced to form a unified team from the Municipality in cooperation with government entities like Manpower and the MOI provided that the campaign shall include all the regions.

89 Million KWD Fuel Subsidies’ Shortfall

The value of shortfall in fuel subsidies reached “89 million KWD during the last four months of the last year (2918/2019), sources informed Al-Rai.

It will be settled at the budget of the current fiscal year, sources added.

Ministry of oil addressed the Ministry of Finance and asked it to inform it of the necessary procedures to settle the cost of shortfall in subsidizing recurrent products and liquefied gas that is marketed locally, which reach 89 million KD for the period extending from December 1st till March 31, 2019.

Washington and Tehran Negotiations Started and We’re Ready for Any Effort that Aims to Avoid Clash and Achieve Peaceful Settlement: Al- Jarallah

Deputy Foreign Minister, Khaled Al-Jarallah said that Kuwait firmly believes that wisdom and peaceful settlement will prevail to avoid any clash in the region.

“ Our trust in peaceful settlement is based on statements of both sides as the US and the Iranian sides indicated that they don’t have any intention in war”, said Al-Jarallah on the sidelines of Ramadan Ghabga hosted by Kuwait MOFA Thursday evening on the honor of accredited diplomatic missions to the State of Kuwait.

“Therefore, we believe that there is hope and optimism that there will be no threat or risk on the region’s security”, he added.

Al-Jarallah further remarked that Kuwait is always ready to exert any efforts that aim to achieve settlement and stability and to avoid any possible clashes.

Moreover, he said that he expects that the three potential summits called for by King Salman Ben Abdul Aziz Al-Saud will contribute to peaceful settlement.

“The condition of the region is sensitive and highly risky. There are accelerated developments which indicate some repercussions that we hope not to be dangerous”, said Al-Jarallah in response to a question regarding the efforts exerted by Kuwait to settle conditions in the region.

“That condition of escalation was successful and I hope that the US-Iranian case will be similar to the crisis of North Korea”, said Al-Jarallah when asked whether the current escalation similar to that of North Korea and the USA, which culminated successfully in negotiations.

“It seems that negotiations between the two parties have already started. There are movements and communications”, he added, remarking that Oman Foreign Minister Yousef Ben Alwai has visited Tehran.

Further, he said that Kuwait welcomes any efforts that are exerted to mitigate escalation in the GCC region.

Cooperation with Iraq:

Al-Jarallah said that Kuwait expresses its feeling of comfort to development of relations with Iraq.

Inking of 5 documents and a minutes of meeting between the Higher Joint Committee between the two countries represents a map of future cooperation between both sides.

Al-Jarallah said the last visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi has come after a round of consultations in view of the Higher Joint Committee as both sides discussed details of the mutual relations between the two countries.

Further, he clarified that the visit of Abdul Mahdi came in view of the works of this committee, which was positive and successful as they discussed mutual relations and confirmed what has been agreed upon to enhance work between both sides.

There is MOU with the Iraqi side related to the joint northern fields, said Al- Jarallah when asked about the oil issue between Iraq and Kuwait.

Relations with Egypt:

Al-Jarallah said that relations between Kuwait and Egypt are strategic, distinguished and developed on all levels.

The distinguished relations between Egypt and Kuwait needs this kind of high level visits, said Al-Jarallah when asked about the prospective visit of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak to Egypt next month.

Iran Threatens of Secret Weapons to Drown Ships

The USA announced spreading 1500 additional soldiers in the Middle East. The USA indicated that there is continuous threats against the US forces issued from the Iranian government.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister, Mike Pompeo announced that the US administration will sell weapons that worth $ 8.1 billion to Saudi, UAE and Jordan in order to deter Iranian aggression.

Meanwhile, General Michael Gildi from the Joint Staff said that the Iranian government led the attacks that targeted oil tankers in front of Fujairah Port in the UAE.

Gildi accused the Iranian Revolutionary Guard of the attempt to spread modified boats with the ability to launch cruise missiles.

Meanwhile, Iranian Mizan News Agency said yesterday that Iran could drown military steamers sent by the USA to the Gulf region by using secret missiles and weapons.

Kuwait Deputy Foreign Minister, Khaled Al-Jarallah said that indirect negotiations seem to have started between the USA and Iran in view of the escalation happening in the region.

Al-Jarallah expressed his hope that this escalation will lead to repeating the scenario of North Korea as parties have succeeded to end in negotiations.

Bahrain King Receives Urgent GCC Summit Invitation from Saudi King Bahrain's King Hamad bin Issa Al-Khalifa received an invitation from Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abulaziz Al-Saud to attend urgent Gulf Cooperation Council summit talks at the end of the week.

The invitation was delivered by GCC Secretary-General Abdullatif Al-Zayani, according to Bahrain's state news agency.

King Hamad praised the accomplishments of the regional bloc, which marked its 38-year anniversary.
