Our Relations with Kuwait Are Not Exclusive to Building Bridges or Smart Cities: Ambassador Young-ki to Al-Rai

Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the State of Kuwait, Dr. Hong Youngki underlined that Korean-Kuwaiti relations are based on strong bilateral connections in a wide array of fields since the year 1979, remarking that these relations are developing significantly.

“These events bring peoples of both countries closely together in a significant way”, Young-ki added to Al-Rai on the sidelines of the inauguration of “the Korean Cuisine Contest” event, which was launched Thursday evening with the participation of 7 Korean teams of Kuwaiti young people.

Further, he remarked that the Korean-Kuwaiti Diwaniya has undertaken many events, which contributed to this matter.

Moreover, he pointed out that the great Kuwaiti contribution in such cultural events by 7 pairs from more than 600 members in the Korean-Kuwaiti Diwaniya is a manifestation that the relations between our two countries are not exclusive on the projects of establishing bridges or smart cities.

Kuwait Amir Representative Arrives in New York Ahead of UN General Assembly Talks

His Highness the Amir’s Representative, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah arrived in New York on Saturday to head Kuwait’s delegation on the 74th UN General Assembly session.

Receiving him at JFK International Airport was Director of His Highness the Amir’s Office Ahmad Al-Fahad, Amiri Diwan Advisor Mohammad Abdulhasan, Amiri Ceremonial Director Sheikh Khaled Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, Amiri Diwan Media and Cultural Affairs Secretary Yousef Al-Roumi, Kuwait’s Ambassador to the US Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Kuwait 3rd Development Plan Envisions “Qualitative Leap” – Minister The State of Kuwait third development plan (2020 – 2025) envisages a qualitative leap, compared to the two previous schemes, a senior official said on Sunday.

Implementation of the first such plan had concluded and that of the second one remained in the execution phase, said Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Mariam Al-Aqeel, in a statement during a meeting for promoting the new plan, organized by the Secretariat General of the Supreme Planning and Development Council.

Care for human resource development is a significant basis in the new plan, she said, indicating that it also included international indices “that have been employed for improving our international rating”. Meanwhile, Hamed Al-Eidan, the head of the government development division, said the third plan is partially designed to enhance the private sector participation in the development process.

DOMESTIC AFFAIRS Optimizing Readiness of the Army and the Oil Sector

Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior Lt-Gen Esam Al-Nahham affirmed Thursday that all sectors of the Ministry are ready to address any eventuality.

The security services are working around the clock to guard against any ramifications of the situation in the region, he said in a statement posted on the Ministry’s Instagram account. Lt-Gen Al-Nahham made the comments after chairing a seniorlevel security meeting where he was briefed on the preparedness of all sectors of the Ministry.

The meeting was part of the field joint action by all sectors and coordination to address the possible scenario of the developments in the region, the statement noted. Lt-Gen Al-Nahham conveyed to the leaders of the security sectors the greetings of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Interior Anas Al- Saleh who appreciates their dedication to protection of the country’s security and stability. Lt-Gen Al-Nahham reiterated the call for everybody to rely for news on official sources, such as the Ministry’s Security Media Department, and avoid circulating rumor that could jeopardize the safety and security of country.

Kuwait has raised the security alert level at all of its ports, including the oil terminals, the state-run Kuwait News Agency reported on Friday, citing a decision by Trade and Industry Minister Khaled Al-Roudhan. “The decision emphasizes that all measures have to be taken to protect the vessels and the ports facilities,” it said.

The announcement comes after two important oil production facilities in neighboring Saudi Arabia were hit by drones and missiles on Sept 14, curtailing the crude output of the world’s top oil exporter.

Yemen’s Houthi group claimed the attacks but a US official said they originated from southwestern Iran.

Tehran, which support the Houthis, denied any involvement in the attacks.

Kuwait has strategic food reserves sufficient for six months, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced on Friday.

In a statement, the ministry affirmed its full readiness to cope with any emergency, affirming that all precautionary measures have been taken.

The ministry added that it had taken all necessary measures and precautions with the Kuwaiti Insurance Company and the food supplies outlets throughout the country.

The Ministry of Health announced a state of emergency in all government hospitals, reports Annahar daily. Health sources disclosed that meetings are being held in all health zones to develop, implement and activate the emergency plan.

The sources confirmed that some health zones have canceled all holidays whether at the level of doctors or administrators and nurses, in addition to summoning who are on vacation in Kuwait.

On the other hand, the Emergency Medical Department conducted a mock accident exercise in the women’s clinic in Al-Saqr Specialized Center in Adailiya with the active participation of the Kuwait Fire Services Directorate (KFSD) and the Civil Defense Department of the Ministry of Interior. The mock drill depicted a terrorist attack on a secondary school and evacuation of all students and taking the injured to a hospital.
