President Duterte thanked Japanese businessmen for their intention to expand operations in the Philippines as the two countries inked 26 business deals worth $5.5 billion. He further said he is pleased to know about your strong intention to invest and expand business operations in the new sectors of Philippine economy.
The President in turn assured Japanese businessmen a competitive and corruption-free business climate, and a highly-skilled and fast-learning workforce.

Garbage from Hong Kong, Australia and South Korea that were illegally dumped in the Philippines are the next to be shipped back, according to Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. The South Korean government committed to help ship back the remaining 5,176.9 metric tons of
garbage while last week, Malacañang said the government was “offended” by the reported dumping of garbage from Australia. The garbage from Canada are all ready to go and will be shipped back today.

3. Tax perks for electric vehicles readied Philippine Daily Inquirer, 30 May 2019, p. B3
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) expects to finish within the year an incentive package for electric vehicle manufacturers, according to Trade and Industry Undersecretary Rafaelita Aldaba.
Eventually, the goal is for companies to manufacture in the country. However, she clarified that companies were not expected to do the entire vehicle here, but to at least use some locally available products like electronic parts.
