When this shows the road system, it will show us how to drive from one place to another. And the more detailed it is, the more fully it will reflect reality. But Karen looked right at the person who’d been waiting the longest and said, “I believe you’re next.” What she did made everyone actually act like an adult. Hollywood directors will sometimes do anything . When Cecil B. deMille was filming

The Ten Commandments, he was not satisfied with the crowd of actors playing Israelites as they heard the Commandments from Moses. The actors, he felt, did not display the correct degree of emotion. So he announced that a member of the movie cast had died that morning, leaving eight children behind. He asked that the actors observe two minutes of silence out of respect for their dead colleague. The actors stood quietly, with expressions of shock and sadness on their faces. He kept the cameras rolling and got exactly what he wanted on film. Afterwards he told them he had made up the story about the cast member’s death.

San Francisco의 교통 상황에 대한 필자의 태도로 가장 적절한 것은?

As a native San Franciscan runner who refuses to drive, I sympathize with San Francisco drivers. The quality of our public transport system forces people to drive. Moreover, the city refuses to provide sufficient parking for cars. So, there are two choices: one is to pay huge parking fees, and the other is to use low-quality public transportation. A

decade in New York taught me that good public transportation can provide much more to a city than simply destinations and departures.

다음 글에 드러난 필자의 주장으로 가장 적절한 것은? [1점] We live about three houses away from the local post office and I use it a lot. A lot of elderly people visit and use it too. If it closes, it is going to have a tremendous impact on the community. People in rural communities pay as much tax as anyone else, but we won’t rely on the services. Our next nearest post office is also facing closure, so we would have to travel six to seven miles in either direction to get to a post office. If we can’t afford to drive there, we have to take the bus. Elderly people often find it very hard to stand outside in the bad weather waiting for buses. It is not just the elderly that use it ― children on their way from school also use it.

People regularly use scrubs, toners, lotions, eye creams, sunscreens, and special creams to keep their skin “trouble

-free”. Each cosmetic may contain 30 or 40 chemicals, some of which cause irritations or allergic reactions. If you use five different products at the same time, you mix up at least 80 kinds of chemicals! The skin is the essential barrier between our internal organs and the outside world. It is a remarkable protector, but exposure to many substances can be harmful. We often advise people to avoid using anything nonessential. We should show great respect to our wonderful “container”. Just two products, a gentle cleanser and a good sunscreen, are enough daily skin care for most people.

Researchers have developed a software that scans the feelings on people’s faces and then produces a piece of computer-generated artwork. It analyzes eight basic

expressions, including the position and shape of the mouth, the openness of the eyes and the angle of the eyes. This information is picked up by a web cam, which uses data from the person’s face to guess how the viewer is feeling. The program automatically chooses colors and types of brush strokes each time the person’s expression changes, and then paints a new picture of his or her mood. The technology does all of this in real time. As the viewer’s emotions change, the artwork responds accordingly.

① Emotions are too changeable to paint. ② New technology controls people’s feelings. ③ A software estimates the value of pictures. ④ New computer art mirrors viewer’s mood. ⑤ Web camera improves picture technology.

In 1688, Sir Christopher Wren designed a magnificent town hall for the city of Westminster. The mayor was afraid that the second floor could come crashing down on his office on the first floor. He demanded that Wren add two stone columns for extra support. Wren knew that these columns would serve no purpose, and that the mayor’s fears were baseless. But he built them, and the mayor was grateful. Years later, a workman saw that the columns stopped just short of ceiling. By building the “dummy” columns, both men got what they wanted. Person A The painting of George Washington crossing the Delaware River may be filled with errors. That painting was done in 1850, and until recently, most of us assumed that it showed a historical event accurately. However, a painting from 1893 has just been discovered. William Pedrick, the artist, painted an entirely different version of Washington’s crossing. He showed Washington riding in a small boat with two other men, not in a boat filled with people. The familiar Stars and Stripes was omitted from Pedrick’s painting. That flag was not adopted until after the Battle of Trenton, which took place after the river crossing. Pedrick’s painting was based on facts. Let’s set the record straight on Washington’s crossing.

Person B Paintings do not have to represent history accurately. The creation of a work of art is an act of imagination; errors of fact don’t matter much. The old painting has some things in it that may be inaccurate, but how can an event that took place in the 1700s be reproduced exactly? There were no photographs then. It is of no importance to argue about the existence of the Stars and Stripes in the original painting. People have always loved the original painting of Washington’s crossing, and they will continue to love it as long as it exists. As for me, a painting’s accuracy is least important. Art itself has a lot of meaning to us, I think.
