부사절을 이끄는 접속사 1

시간

when(~할 때), (~하는 동안에), as(~하면서/~

할 때), since(~ 이래로), after(~ 후에), (~ 전에), until[till] (~할 때까지), as soon as(~ )

When she’s alone, she likes dancing.

While they were playing, their house was robbed.

이유 because, since, as(~ ) Because I caught a cold, I couldn’t sleep well.

조건 if(~한다면), (~하지 않는다면) If you see him, tell him to call me.

양보 (even) though, (비록 ~일지라도), even if(~한 다고 해도)

※시간, 조건을 나타내는 부사절에서는 미래를 나타낼 때 를 쓴다.

목적

so[in order] that+주어+can/may/will+동사원형 ((주어)가 ~하도록, ~하기 위해)

= (in order[ ] ) to+동사원형

Come closer, so[in order] that we can have a talk.

I gave the boy some money so that he could buy some snacks.

= I gave the boy some money in order[so as] for him to buy some snacks.

부사절을 이끄는 접속사 2 - so that ~ / so ~ that

1. that 앞에 명사가 오면 so 대신 를 쓴다. 「such(+a/an)+형용사+명사+that ~」의 어순으로 쓴다.

2. (1) so+형용사/부사+that+주어+can(매우 ~해서 …할 수 있다) = 형용사/부사+ (+for 목적격)+to부정사 (2) so+형용사/부사+that+주어+can’t(너무 ~해서 …할 수 없다) = +형용사/부사(+for 목적격)+to부정사
