Statement of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of the Philippines on the memorial service of Korean businessman Jee Ick-joo
1. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of the Philippines (hereinafter referred as the Embassy) prays for the repose of soul of the Korean businessman Mr Jee Ick-joo who was kidnapped and murdered last October 18 in Angeles City and extends its sincere condolences and consolation to the bereaved family of the victim.
2. The Embassy calls upon the Philippine Government to conduct a speedy and thorough investigation and to bring those responsible to full justice. In addition, the Embassy urges the Philippine Government to adopt necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents in the future.
3. The Embassy will make every effort in its closer cooperation with the Philippine government so that the death of Mr Jee will serve as an opportunity for Korean nationals in the Philippines to lead peaceful and secure lives without any apprehensions regarding their safety.
