2018 European Next-Generation Journalists Program
June 24 (Sunday) – June 30 (Saturday) Seoul/Jeju, Korea
Background
The European Next-Generation Leaders Program, launched in 2006, is an annual program launched by the Korea Foundation (KF) to provide future European leaders with an opportunity to learn about the various historical, cultural, economic, and socio-political aspects of the Republic of Korea (ROK) through an extended tour of the country. The program also provides participants with a platform for dialogues and discussions with their Korean counterparts, thus facilitating the formation of meaningful networks, which the Foundation hopes will greatly enhance European-Korean cooperation for years to come.
As part of the program, the Foundation will select 20 journalists from 20 European countries for the 2018 European Next-Generation Journalists Program.
Through the program, they will gain a multitude of experiences all over Korea. From attending seminars or diplomatic and economic forums to meeting fellow journalists,
participants will enjoy a host of opportunities across different fields. In addition, they will be invited to view artistic performances and engage in cultural experiences.
Recommendation of Participants
Participants will be recommended to the KF by the Korean embassies in the respective European countries on the basis of the following criteria:
- Currently working in the media
- Interested in exploring collaborative relationships with Korean counterparts or helping to form a European-Korean network
- Good command of English (as the program is conducted entirely in English)
Administrative Details
The participant list will be finalized by Wednesday, May 23.
Once participants have been selected, they will receive a formal letter of invitation from the KF requesting their biographical information and a photograph. The letter will also provide guidelines on how to best prepare for the trip to Korea.
