W: Kevin, have you booked a table at Charlie’s for our team dinner tomorrow?

M : Not yet. I’ve been really busy all day today. But I have their number.

W: Oh, I see. Do you want me to make the reservation?

M : __________________________________________________________

M : Mom, you’d better park your car in the underground parking lot today.

W: Why? It’s more convenient to park outside.

M : The weather forecast says that it’s going to snow a lot tonight.

W: __________________________________________________________

W: Hello, Mr. Watson. What do you want to do with your hair today?

M : Can you cut it just a little bit? Not too much.

W: Why don’t you try a new style this time? You’d look great if you had your hair permed.

M : __________________________________________________________

M : Hello, everyone! I’m Mark Benson, your instructor. Before we start our lesson, I want to make sure that you warm your body up before going into the water. Warming-up prevents you from having a heart attack while swimming. If you jump into the water without it, you may shock your heart due to the temperature difference between the air and the water. In addition, warm-up exercises can make you more flexible, which helps with your swimming motion. Without warming-up, your muscles can tighten rapidly and cause a serious accident in the water. Therefore, warm-up exercises are necessary for swimming. I hope you remember this essential step for having a safe, enjoyable swim.

W: Hello, students. I’m your librarian, Ms. Hatcher. I have an important announcement to make about our school library. The library plays an important role in your studies. But many students feel uncomfortable due to its limited space. Because of this, we decided to temporarily close and renovate the library. It’ll be closed from Monday to Friday next week. All the library services, such as borrowing and returning books, won’t be available during the renovation. I hope you understand that this renovation is to meet the increasing needs of students. We’re sorry for any inconvenience the library’s temporary closure may cause. Thank you for your cooperation.

W: Steve, are you putting all those clothes into the washing machine at once?

M : Yes, I am. Why? Is there anything wrong?

W: When you do laundry, you shouldn’t put all the clothes together.

M : What do you mean?

W: You shouldn’t put jeans and white shirts together. Jeans can dye white shirts blue.

M : Oh, I didn’t know that. Do I need to wash them separately then?

W: Yes, you do. And hand washing would be a good choice for wool sweaters.

M : You mean I shouldn’t use a washing machine for the sweaters?

W: Right. It could ruin them because they’re very delicate.

M : I thought doing laundry was just putting everything into the washing machine and pressing a button.

W: It’s not that simple. You should consider the type, color, and texture of the clothes.

M : Now I got it. Thanks for your advice.

M : Cathy, here are some cherry tomatoes for you.

W: Thanks. They look delicious. Where did you get them from?

M : I grew them on my family weekend farm.

W: I didn’t know you had a weekend farm. How do you like it?

M : It’s been amazing. I think working with my family on the weekend farm is helpful for improving my family relationship.

W: What do you mean? Could you be more specific?

M : I mean we share a lot of experiences like seeding and harvesting. And it brings us closer.

W: Sounds nice. I guess you have a lot of pleasant memories.

M : Definitely. Besides, my family talks more than before since we have a common topic.

W: That must be helpful. I should try it myself with my family.

M : Go for it! You’ll know what I mean.

[Cellphone rings.]

M : Hello. This is Jack Renner.

W: Hi, this is Amy Duncan. I got your number from Sam Perry.

M : Oh, I heard about you from him. You’re working on a new story, right?

W: Yes. I’m writing about a falsely accused detective.

M : That sounds interesting. What can I do for you?

W: I need advice about legal terms and trial processes. A few chapters from the story take place in court.

M : No problem. I can do that.

W: Thank you. It’ll help me create a more realistic plot and settings.

M : I’m happy to help with your work for the new book.

W: Can I visit your office this Wednesday at three?

W: Perfect. I’ll see you then.

M : No problem. Go straight and turn left at the first intersection.

M: Number Three

W: Is that a new car? I don’t think I saw it before.

M : Yes, it is. It’s an electric car. I save a lot of money on fuel.

M: Number Four

M: Number Five

W: Sounds interesting. Are they for children?

M : Yes. I want to introduce Korean folk tales to children from all over the world.

W: That sounds meaningful. When can I see the books?

M : I’d love to publish them as soon as possible. But I haven’t found an illustrator yet.

W: A friend of mine is a professional illustrator.

M : I already did. Actually I need to see Mr. Lee, our English teacher.

W: Why? Did you forget to submit your writing assignment?

M : No. I’m going to return this umbrella to him. It rained a lot yesterday and he lent me his umbrella.

M : They’re $10 a pair, but we offer 20% off if you buy five pairs or more.

W: Oh, that’s a good deal. I’ll take five then.

M : Okay. Is there anything else you need?

W: Do you also have gloves?

M : Yes, ma’am. We have leather and wool gloves here.

W: I like this pair of leather gloves. How much are they?

M : They’re $50.

W: Is there also a discount on the gloves?

M : I’m sorry. There’s no discount on the gloves at the moment.

W: Okay. [Typing sound] It says it’ll be held on April 21 and 22.

W: There are special lectures from rising female writers. There’s also a writing clinic where we can get feedback on our writing.

W: Sure, Michael. What do you need?

M : I need to decide on our club shirts. And I just found an online shop.

W: Good. What should we do first?

M : We have to choose the type of shirt, hoodies or T-shirts.

W: We bought T-shirts last year. Why don’t we try a different type?

M : I agree. And I guess a darker color would be better than a brighter one, right?

W: Yeah. We definitely shouldn’t choose white because it gets dirty very easily.

M : Okay. Dark colors then, not white. Are we going to print text on the back of the shirts?

W: No. Most members are against the idea of printing text.

M : I see. Is there anything else I should do for the backpacking trip?

W: Hmm, did you get travel insurance?

M : No. Do you think I need it?

W: Of course. It’ll be helpful if you have to see a doctor during the trip.

M : But I’m healthy. I won’t get sick that easily.

W: Nobody can see into the future. Plus, just in case your belongings are stolen, the insurance will help.

M : I see your point. Then I’ll make sure to prepare for all the possibilities.

W: And the next day you’re tired and drink too much coffee again, right?

M : Yes. It’s not easy to stop drinking so much coffee, though.

W: Why don’t you drink water instead of coffee when you’re tired? It could help you.

M : Drink water? Why do you think so?

W: Drinking water refreshes your brain by helping blood circulation.

W: Hello, Healthy Always listeners. I’m Dr. Jessica Parker. Do you know there are many common food myths that are untrue? The first one is about eggs. Many people believe eggs contain a high level of cholesterol and should be avoided. But doctors say eggs don’t really have harmful effects. Another common myth is potatoes are bad for our diet because they have lots of carbohydrates. But the truth is potatoes are a low-calorie food and good for our diet. Next, shrimp is widely believed to have lots of cholesterol and to cause heart disease. But, in fact, they have plenty of good cholesterol and can be good for your heart. The last myth is the skin of chicken should be removed to lower the fat and calories.

But for balanced nutrition, the chicken skin should be kept on. I hope this information will help you throw away the old-school thinking and keep a more healthy and balanced diet.
