※ The Master & Doctoral combined course is selected from the Departments that already have both Master & Doctoral Courses. Upon the completion of the course the doctoral degree will be conferred.

Ⅳ. Requirement for applicants

1. Non-Korean nationals whose parents are non-Korean nationals

2. Non-Korean nationals who have completed the education courses abroad

which correspond to the South Korean primary, secondary and tertiary

education courses

Course Qualifications

Common Qualifications

Students who satisfy at least one of the following requirements

① Those who have level 3 or higher on the TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) (Those who have level 3 on TOPIK should acquire a level 4 or higher to graduate.)

② Level 4 of the Korean Language Learning Program in KNU Language Training Institute (TOPIK Level 4 or higher is needed to graduate)

③ TOEFL score of at least 550(CBT210, iBT80) or TEPS 550 or IELTS 5.5

④ Recommendation Letter for Excellent Researcher (Language proficiency ① or

③ is needed to graduate.)

※ People applying for the 25th TOPIK are expected to qualify for the level 3. If not, they will not be admitted(announcement date is on Feb. 9, 2012)

Master's course

Applicants must meet the above conditions of their desired degree program requirements

① A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (or one to be received before the relevant term).

② Educational attainment equivalent to bachelor's degree approved by laws.

Doctor's course

Applicants must meet the above conditions of their desired degree program requirements

① A master's degree from an accredited college or university (or one to be received before the relevant term).

② Educational attainment equivalent to master's degree approved by laws.

Combined course

Applicants must meet the above conditions of their desired degree program requirements

① A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (or one to be received before the relevant term).

② Educational attainment equivalent to bachelor's degree approved by laws.

③ Those whose undergraduate GPA is 80 or higher on a scale of 100 points.

b. Submission

Applicants must apply for the admission on-line. Then print out the completed admission application form. Finally, Submit the admission application form with other admission documents to the campus where the department you apply for in person or by regular mail.

2. Required Documents

-Doctoral applicants required to submit undergraduate and mater's diplomas -Applicants who have graduated from a undergraduate program in China must submit a documentation of graduation issued by the Chinese Education Department.

-1 copy of undergraduate transcript -Doctoral applicants required to submit undergraduate and mater's transcripts -1 copy of letter of recommendation(from academic

advisor or dean)

-1 copy of certificate of expenses for stay

-1 copy of financial guarantor's employment certificate (Employer, position, monthly salary and employer's contact to be stated in case financial guarantor is a non-South Korean national )

-1 copy of certificate of expenses for stay(at least one of the three below required)

1. Bank balance certificate(maintained longer than 3 months)

2. remittance certificate

3. money exchange of financial guarantor or application with the amount of 10,000 US dollars or more

Certificate of Language proficiency

-A certificate of level 3 TOPIK or higher -A proof of application for the 25th TOPIK

-An English Proficiency certificate -TOEFL550, CBT210, iBT80, IELTS5.5, TEPS 550

-Recommendation letter by the Academic Advisor of KNU -Applicants who have not submitted a certificate of Language Proficiency -1 copy of passport

-1 copy of alien registration card

(limited to those who dwell in South Korea)

-1 copy each of ID cards of the applicant and his or her parents

-An original copy of family registration

○ Although the applicant is a foreign national, if one of his/her parents is a Korean national, he/she needs to submit the following documents in addition.

3. Submission Instruction

a. All of the required documents must be submitted either in Korean or English.

Other languages must be translated in Korean and Notarized, then a copy of each, the orignal language and Korean, must be submitted.

b. The original copies of the documents issued abroad must be submitted.

(when you submit the copy of documents, the original copy must be submitted as well. After comparing them, the orignal copy will be returned) c. Any falsified documents or incomplete documents will be unacceptable.

d. If falsified admission documents are detected, the admission will be automatically canceled even after the admission to school, and the tuition fee will not be refunded.

e. The admission documents will not be returned.

Ⅶ. Screening Process

a. Classification into 'acceptable' and 'unacceptable' applicants based on documents

Ⅷ. Notice of result and Enrollment

2. Payment of tuition fee

a. Date : Jan. 3, 2012(Tue.) ~ Jan. 10, 2012(Tue.)

b. The payment method will be notified at the time of the announcement of the names selected for the admission.

c. If the tuition fee is not fully paid within the payment period, your admission will be canceled.

Freshman Attendance

·50% of the School association fee

·2/3 of the School association fee for students from partner universities with KNU

※Only for the first semester

·50% of the School association fee for students who earn 6 credits (GPA 3.0) or more

3. Refund of tuition fee

a. In case an applicant who paid the tuition gives up on admission for an unavoidable engagement, the tuition paid is refunded by the procedure stipulated by the school regulations.

b. Refund procedure : apply to the International Affairs Office or Operative Planning Department with a receipt of tuition fee, an application form for refund tuition fee.

4. Further information

a. Those who are granted admission have to pay the tuition within the designated period. If not, admission will be cancelled.

b. An admission certificate is sent to those who paid the tuition. To those who dwell in China, an admission certificate is sent after the allocation of a visa certification number by the Immigration Office of the Ministry of Justice.

c. In case of accident or illness, those who are granted admission have to subscribe to an accident insurance that is effective from the date of entrance and lasts during the period of enrollment.

d. Undergraduate or graduate students scheduled to graduate from the undergraduate or the graduate school with the approval of the admission to KNU must submit a copy of diploma and the certificate of the completion of degree no later than Feb. 28, 2012. If not, the admission will be cancelled.

e. Other detailed information not specified on the admission procedure are decided by "the Admission Committee."

f. The recruitment unit or department names may change upon the approval of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. The changes will be announced in the near future.

3. Dormitory

a. KNU operates dormitories that can accommodate 7,099 students with subsidiary facilities and amenities such as reading rooms, TV lounges, weight training rooms, computer labs and laundry rooms.

- Chuncheon Campus : Yulgokgwan, Toegyegwan , Dasangwan, Yeojiwon, Nanjiwon, Gukjiwon, Uiamgwan, Hanseogwan, International Dormitory, BTL Dormitory, Global Dormitory

- Samcheok Campus : Eonjang living quarters, Doota living quarters, Haesol living quarters

- Dogye Campus : Dowon living quarters, Hwangjo living quarters, Jilli living quarters given in allocation to those who apply for a dormitory room)

b. Costs(including meals) : 850,000~1,100,000Korean Won based on rooms for 2~4person

c. Foreign students have priority over domestic students when they are assigned to a dormitory room.

4. Location

a. KNU is located within an hour bus or train ride. Both bus and train are available.

- Dong Seoul(East Seoul) Bus Terminal : 5:40am ~ every 15 minutes

- Gang Nam Express Bus Terminal : 6:50am ~ Every 1 hour - Sang Bong Subway : 5:05am ~ Every 20 minutes

- Driving : 40 minutes

b. Airport Bus : 08:10 ~ 21:30 (it runs 12 times a day) Bus fee : 18,000 won
